Had a Bold for a couple of days now, long enough to state quite happily that this is the most superb device i have ever had (and i have had EVERYTHING twice over) .
Certain people have been nagging me about this phone for months, truth is, you MUST buy something, in order to see and understand what all the fuss is about

Go to Crackberry and read some of the Wiki threads. Everyone puts different things on their BB, depending on what they want to do i.e. Google Maps etc etc - there are thousands!

Check out my for sale thread, and I have an 8900 running 5.0.

Some nice touches, but as it is Alpha, there is still a lot of work in progress. A few compatability issues with third party apps, and a calendar bug, but I feel, worth the upgrade

Hi!

got an email yesterday

" An update of BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.6 is available. "

I am using a Bold and think if I update I will loose the Japanese and Chinese support on my Bold.

My OS version is -

BlackBerry® 9000
smartphone (3G, Wi-Fi)
v4.6.0.190 (Platform 4.0.0.172)
Cryptographic Kernel v3.8.5.50a
Branding Version: 1.0.120.0
Micro Edition Configuration: CLDC-1.1
Micro Edition Profile: MIDP-2.0
Micro Edition JTWI Version: 1.0
Micro Edition Media Version: 1.1
Micro Edition PIM Version: 1.0
Micro Edition File Version: 1.0
Micro Edition Bluetooth Version: 1.1
Micro Edition Location Version: 1.0.1
Micro Edition Security and Trust Services (APDU) Version: 1.0 WLAN Version: 2.4.0.65 http://www.blackberry.com Copyright © 1997-2008 Research In Motion Limited.
All rights reserved.

but not really sure if an upgrade will mean the loss of Japanese and Chinese input.

Any advice welcomed!

Hi Berry,

yes, it works well and was a bit tricky getting those languages on for me!

I will leave well alone!

Got my Curve 8900 back from Colorware yesterday, got a 'Powder' colour paintjob done. Very impressed with the finish.

T-Mobile are now joined Orange in selling a Blackberry on a pay as you go tarrif. You buy the phone (a 8110 I believe) for £179, and that includes a years BB email and browsing (1Gb/month), you just have to pay for top-ups for texts and calls.
