Credit where credit is due, samsung have done a really good job with the software on the galaxy s3. I particularly like the video player. The thumbnails of the videos on the phone are not static. They play. All of them!

Yes, SE/Sony's UI and designs are nice, but I always thought that lack of quality in camera dept. has always been about Sony not giving their best stuff to SE. Now it's their own business so they must concentrate again on their strongest assets, like camera and music player expertise. And it looks like GX is still a SE stuff in camera dept. Unnatural sharpening, loads of noise even at ISO-64 and so on. Anyway, sony needs to put Xenon flash and dramatically improve it's camera quality, it won't be able to battle Samsung in other areas. Remember, Xperia brand is so weak against Galaxy, they need much better products just to achieve 50% of Samsung flagship's sales. Not having a quad core offering doesn't help, even if it doesn't really matter and Krait's performance is silmilar to quad A9

I'm more than certain SE's phones have always been using Sony's sensors. One thing to keep in mind about Sony is their sensors are industry-leading in performance. Sony's own JPEG processing algorithm (which I presume they had SE follow along with), however, is notorious for being destructively heavy-handed in noise reduction and size compression; all Sony needs to do is start dialing back their noise reduction and compression algorithms (which they've started doing in their standard cameras), but, even with their excessive processing, the image quality of their recent cameras is still nothing to scoff at.

Xenon flashes simply aren't happening anymore; the only camera released in the past year with a Xenon flash is Nokia's 808, and not only does it have the bulk to accommodate one but also it's primarily targeted at a demographic for which a Xenon flash becomes a marketing point (even if its functional utility is questionable). The ISO performance of sensors have reached a point where more detail can be retained (at a typical viewing size and not at a 100% crop) overall throughout the image in contrast to any sort of front-lit scene (be it LED or Xenon) where which only objects within a specific distance are lit and detailed while everything else generally becomes darkness.

Breaking News from U13x on XDA

So....a news break....what if Hayabusa and Mint aren't the only handsets coming? and what IF Hayabusa and Mint aren't flagships?

that's not news. that's pure speculation and dream talk. with their 3 month or more release timeframe after announcement, i'd be pretty shocked to see something in addition to mint, which should be coming in the fall.

With Sony being ever slow to the market I think we talk about Xperia S successor here.

Well one of two possibilities come to mind if the Hayabusa/Mint are not the new flagship phones. Either he's talking about the Xperia Nexus or there's a Vita Phone in the works. Of the two options, the Nexus seems to be the far more likely to happen. I suppose whatever this other flagship is, it'll be the one getting the OLED display that's supposed to be showing up on a Sony phone this year. Excited to see what else may be coming. Too bad he can't give us a rough idea of when we should be hearing about this

I'd think an Xperia S successor wouldn't come out this quickly. If there is another flagship planned then it wasn't in the leaked roadmap from January when it was still Sony Ericsson. It could be Sony had also been planning for a new device and it wasn't sharing that info with Ericsson, which is why it's remained hidden in the shadows all this time. That's why I think either a Nexus phone or a Vita phone make sense as the 2 primary options because from what I understand with Nexus phones, you have to wait for Google to choose you and that would explain why it wasn't a listed device on the leaked roadmap if Google hadn't made up its mind at the time. The Vita phone makes sense because it'd be a device more made by the gaming division with cell phone aspects added in, so it's not likely that it would have shown up on a Sony Ericsson launch sheet.

Or hell, maybe we'll get a Nexus and Vita phone? A man can dream

Update on that last post by unknown13x:

"Woah woah, hold your horses people, if you left with your horses come back first! I'm just saying that Sony has a fleet flying above waiting to land. We'll start to see some handsets that were available in some exclusive market, be available elsewhere with some good upgrades. Sorry to burst your hopes, but it won't get better than Hayabusa, but not going to say if it's on par or not though"

So... yeah... um.... nothing to see here, move along folks... I think

This is why I don't like Xperia 2011's ICS update:

Xperia Arc S with ICS:

Xperia S/GX/GS/never mind ICS

The second one is much better. But it won't come to our 2011 Xperias.
The best mobile phone brand died with Sony Ericsson's death. Shame on you Sony for killing it! And, of course, for ruining the Xperia brand...

If its concerning the diffrence of kernal version, then 3.0.8 itself is old now. New kernel just released few days back..
Sony did screw up with the update, and i hope after they worked out the ics update for xperia u and sola, they port that for 2011 devices..

Why are people wishing for "another" flagship when hayabusa is not yet even released? Isn't it on par with other top phones(one x and gs3)?

Wow the gallery does indeed look amazing! I really hope Sony's new ui matches the walkman, album and movies app ui. That would be awesome!
