It's more like iPhone's screen will be manufactured by JDI (Japan Display Inc) rather than Sony since the latter is a member of it.

I wasn't really a fan of the GX design compared to the NXT series, but it's growing on me. Especially after seeing that photo with it next to the XS.

Little off topic.
Should I buy Xperia S or wait for Xperia GX? What is the difference between the two when it comes to specs?
Thanks

Wait for GX!
GX has a bigger screen 4.6 inch vs 4.3 on S
28nm krait Snapdragon S4 vs 45nm S3 Snapdragon
16 gb + microSD expansion vs 32 gb internal non expandable
13 megapixel second gen EXMOR R camera vs 12 megapixel 1st gen EXMOR R
Slimmer and lighter than S
Newer UI and some cool new software improvements
Possibly better audio quality

I think by July GX will be available in the market. I was thinking to wait for Mint but then it's too far off.

I guess that's from a geek's point of view, now for a typical android user's POV:
Xperia S could run all android apps and games lag free (all benchmarks of GSIII, One X and so on and so forth makes previous generation multicore SoCs look as if they're painfully sluggish, but they're not), S4 is there just for the bells and whistles. image resolution on GX might be a little bit higher but they're almost similar in quality, screen size might be larger on GX but S had more pixels per inch (READ: sharper image) GX might be slimmer and lighter but Xperia S doesn't break your bones when carried does it?, for the UI Xperia S's ICS built will surely give users some UI changes. and above all else, Xperia will surely be much less espensive than GX when launched outside Japan. as for design GX's concave curve looks less attractive than Arc/Arc S, but Xperia S on the other hand looks unique and nice. but seriously all Sony handsets looked good so there's no arguing on this

I own the Xperia S myself, but I believe the GX will just be better. So I feel he should wait for the GX and then decide if he likes it, if not then get the Xperia S.
Though have to say, I do agree with you. My Xperia S does everything smoothly and can run all the latest games without breaking a sweat. These quad cores really seem pointless to me, at least at this point.
P.S. Why isn't there still a pic of the Xperia S in the list of "your phone model"

One more thing: GX comes with ICS from the beginning and the button layout follows that standard. So I'd say WAIT! |

Go for SGSIII or Krait based HTC. GX's camera quality looks to be bad, 2011 Exmor R bad:( |

I honestly don't like the UI. I've always sticked to Sony Ericsson only for UI and Design. Of course features are important and for that reason I always bought it's smartphones. I know, I'm missing out on quad core but I can wait. Let's see what Sony has to offer but as of now GX looks good to me but Xperia S is tempting too. The thing is, now I want a very powerful phone. Sure no quad core this year from Sony but c'mon need some hard core specs in hardware front. I had X10 and now I got Arc S, they both lag and not much RAM.

Yes, SE/Sony's UI and designs are nice, but I always thought that lack of quality in camera dept. has always been about Sony not giving their best stuff to SE. Now it's their own business so they must concentrate again on their strongest assets, like camera and music player expertise. And it looks like GX is still a SE stuff in camera dept. Unnatural sharpening, loads of noise even at ISO-64 and so on. Anyway, sony needs to put Xenon flash and dramatically improve it's camera quality, it won't be able to battle Samsung in other areas. Remember, Xperia brand is so weak against Galaxy, they need much better products just to achieve 50% of Samsung flagship's sales. Not having a quad core offering doesn't help, even if it doesn't really matter and Krait's performance is silmilar to quad A9 |
