More Prepay data:
Surf’s up with Vodafone's Prepay Broadband Surfer
Prepay customers have been clamouring for more data on their mobiles and now you can get up to half a gigabyte for $40 with Vodafone’s Broadband Surfer plan.
Only available to Supa Prepay customers, Vodafone Broadband Surfer allows customers to surf the net, watch movie clips and join in the social media fun for only $40 a month. And if you exceed your 512MB of data, simply buy another 512MB block for $40 and carry on surfing.
Broadband Surfer is great for small businesses that might need data on an occasional basis, or for bach owners who don’t want to miss out on the internet while they’re enjoying the waves.
Vodafone’s GM of Products and Pricing Paul Toomey says anyone can use their mobiles as a modem with this plan, or simply buy a new SIM dedicated to data.
“If you’ve got a Vodem Stick or a Vodafone Connect Card but don’t need ongoing monthly data, then Broadband Surfer lets you use what you need, when you need it. We’ll let you know when you’re at 90% usage and again at 100% with a TXT, freeing you up to concentrate on what’s important to you.”
Best of all, Vodafone Prepay customers can put together their own package of broadband options from the full range, including $1/day, $10/100MB and now $40/512MB.
“So if you’re on the 100MB Lite plan but realise you need a whole lot more, you can add 512MB Surfer for the rest of the month. Or if you’ve used up your 512MB but only need a bit to get through to the end of the month, you can opt for the $1/day casual rate. The choice is entirely yours,” says Toomey.
Existing Supa Prepay users can add Broadband Surfer to their phones by sending 'BUYTopUp512MB" to 756. New customers will need to go in store to buy a new SIM and have it activated for prepay data.
Vodafone Broadband Surfer is available from April 15 and costs $40 for 512MB of data.

$40 for 512mb???? that'll get you 3gb on telecom (wired) or almost 6gb on xnet (wired). Why should wireless data be sooo expensive in NZ?

Perhaps, though you'll need a really long cable to make Telecom's fixed broadband truly portable.
Previously, $29.95 bought 200MB so it is an improvement.

Are those prices better than what you have been getting on your plan carkitter?

I'm on a 3GB plan for $69.95 per month. An extra 3GB is $10 more.
The deal over Xmas gave us 1/2 price payments for 6 months so currently I pay $34.95 per month.

So what do you do when you want to use internet on the move?
I'm not a gamer so I'll willingly sacrifice low ping and mega bandwidth for flexibility. |

Obviously we don't have the same kind of needs as you carkitter - I never really need to use internet on the move and on the occasion that I do, I don't mind paying the $1 or so that Vodafone might charge me. But even for mobile internet, those prices do seem a little steep carkitter. They really are taking advantage of being the only real player in the market.

1GB for 15 pounds ($39) I think.
BTW, anyone know how to get a pound symbol on a US spec keyboard? I'm sure there is a way...
Edit:
3GB for 15 pounds when you sign up to an account.
5GB for 25 pounds ($65) and 15 pounds per gig after that, so 6GB is 40 pounds ($104) from Voda UK or $79.95 here.
Accounts have 12/18/24 month options (24 month only in NZ). 12 month plans require 28 pounds for the Vodem stick which is unnecessary if you use your phone as modem.

By the way I saw my first C905 the other night at work. It was black and it took me a while to recognise it because it looked a lot smaller than I expected! It did look very nice though. You got yours away being fixed yet yea g?
