A few P1i macros that I'm narrowing down for the monthly comp, before it closes in a day or two:

P1i macro mode again:

I fitted some new dinner-plate-size disc brakes onto one of my bikes recently... when I saw this design of superbike disc brake, I just had to get them :

How on earth do you manage such photo quality on the P1?

LOL, thanks gola.
I'm thinking of entering the bug-through-a-leaf or one of the other leafy pics, but maybe the bug one has got the best shot (pun?) of getting close to some of the other bril pics already entered.

It's a lot of experimentation with the cam settings to get the best out of the P1i. Usually I take plenty and faff around with the settings as I go.

As regards these, again I had to delete many, many pics (close to 70!) to narrow it down to these 5 or 6 nature pics. (a lot were blurred in my pursuit of a decent pic or two, either by me moving/shaking or not getting the cam to focus properly).
This involved a lot of patience with the macro mode (as it doesn't always zoom on the area that I'm trying to get it to focus on, and sometimes I'm simply too close..), and trying different light settings, including use of the sharp natural light that we're currently blessed with today etc.

They were all taken in the back garden; I must've looked strange doing all these close-up pics with a cellphone amongst the garden flora; wonder if one of the neighbours were watching...LOL.

I still think that the N73 and 6500 Slide's 3.2mp cam can easily hold its own against the P1i, particularly with the default/auto settings.
But the greater reange of settings options on the P1i really comes into its own, particularly the macro mode, if one has the time and patience to fiddle with settings when you're out n' about.

@ Hobbster:
Nah, they've only got a handful of real ones left in stock already and unfortunately at this early stage they don't have any demo ones for people to fiddle with; maybe in the weeks ahead they'll have one put aside for demos n' stuff. Will try again then.

@ gola:

Carphone Warehouse here now also have the C905 in stock, and it's a whopping 50 cheaper (349.95) than the the prices in other links that I posted a few days ago:

http://shop.carphonewarehouse[....]ricsson/c905-black/orange/ojt/

Still megabucks for a non-smartphone; methinks it'll be in the high 200's by Christmas..

Thanx for those pix Hobbs, the view is brilliant! Mobipocket is easily the most important app. for me, i'd happily forgo everything else but it.

IPmart is definitely a good place to find books, but i also use http://www.veeshanvault.org/shared/morebooks which has some hard-to-find gems for the taking

So i went to see Max Payne today, and i've decided that i'm going to be exactly like Mark Wahlberg's character when i grow up.
I'm not superstitious, merely mildly stitious.

Im realy liking that N79, ALL those N95/N82 features packed into it and it only weighs wait for it. . . . . .97g!!! My N81 with a 2MP Cam, no GPS, No FM Transmitter weighs 140g, how on earth did they get such a feature packed smartphone to weigh 97g?!

Thanks, G-Man.
I've now entered it into the monthly photo comp.

Ya I'm sure the N79 will be much cheaper than Expansys when CPW eventually get stock of it as well.
Still no signs of the 5800 in shops just yet...
