Mobilink launched GPRS for Indigo Customers about 4 months back but since then everything is standstill. What I mean is:

1) GPRS is still limited to Indigo only and not to Jazz although at the time of launching they said it would be comming soon for Jazz. No news yet and I really do not believe it is anytime in the near future.

2) GPRS for Indigo customers is still limited to the 5 major cities of Pakistan as at the time of launch 4 months ago. No further progress in this area too.

3) For the past 4 weeks at least in certain parts of Lahore GPRS is not working. I live on the upper mall near the Jimkhana club and I do not have access to GPRS for the past 4 weeks. Written time and again to mobilink customer care but nothing done.

My view is that Mobilink is unable to operate GPRS properly for such a limited number of Indigo customers they probably simply do not have tghe capability to include the Jazz customers.

Yes I have confirmed it. Its launched, but not commercially. Dial 111 from your Jazz and ask them the details.

But wait, its too expensive. Rather the most expensive.

Activation charge: 300
per mb: 20Rs(with tax)
mms: 6Rs (without tax)

and available only in islamabad, lahore, karachi and faisalabad.

now who on earth would want to have it?

of course, no nobody. [addsig]

@radarblip609

The mobilink gprs rates you mention are these for Jazz customers? because they gave Indogo customers a promotional offer of Rs 500 per month fixed with no data transfer limit and free unlimited MMS. But this was a promotional offer. Any idea if this promotional offer for Indigo is going to remain as such or this will also be converted to the rates you mention. I totally agree with you that the rates are too high. Furthermore another word of caution. Since I have been using Mobilink's GPRS for almost 3 months now I can confirm that this is the slowest of the 4 available. In my view Warid is the fastest (Average 40kbs) followed by Ufone and Tenenor which manage about 35 kbs while Mobilink hardly peaks at 25 kbs. Furthermore the GPRS connectivity issue in certain parts of Lahore is still persisting for almost 4 weeks now and nothing is being done.

@srmz:

Yes, all the charges I wrote up there are for Mobilink Jazz GPRS. I would die of internet outage rather than use Jazz GPRS. [addsig]

For last two years when ever i call on the help line and ask them that when gprs will start on jazz , they reply , in one month. Is this that kind of confirmation or some real real time launch this time and in only 5 cities or in all country

Mobilink while reigns supreme in the current market share(48%) ranks low in customer service and quality.
Obviously when people had little or few choices everyone opted for Mobilink but things are changing fast.Its market share has dropped sharply from 62% at one point to 48% now and is declining gradually.
And look at what they offer to people.
Once I loaded their Rs.300 card onto my current balance of Rs.275 so it summed up to Rs.575 and I was happy but when I woke up one morning I found my balance had turned zero.I called up Mobilink guys and they said "Yeh tu hota hai".
I mean look at these robbers they are ripping people's hard earned credit balances quietly.If you load up their Rs.300 card it is valid one month only.If you don't consume it, it turns zero...what the **ck !!
Today companies are offering long time valid cards,Telenor is valid 5 years,Warid one year and look at these Mobilink people they are valid one month.
I hope they see their business go down gradually.

Somebosy please tell us what happens when:
Suppose I get a new Warid prepaid connection now with a new SIM but leave for abroad and return after 3 years.What will happen to my connection?Will I retain my number?
Will I be able to replace or get a new SIM with the same number?

Mobilink provides confusing info about its tariffs and packages:

It seems that stiff competition has still not waken up Mobilink from its inefficient customer services although it has been penalized a few times by PTA but invain.
If anyone has to find out its calling rates and tariffs,it gives out different rates on its website,call center and printed guides as if to deliberately confuse an average subscribe as to what actually the reality is.
For instance,when one calls 111,the info provided is strange.It says 'an extra surcharge of Rs.3 will be charged on every international SMS'.What is this extra charge and why didn't we know about it?

Mobilink Jazz's calls to same network are still the highest at Rs.4.20 per minute whereas other networks charge an average of Rs.2 per min(same network).
Then the call center provides confusing info about validity of the scratch cards.It says cards with denomination of Rs.600 and above are valid for 6 months while a retailers say all cards are valid 6 months but the Mobilink's main office staff told me that easy-loads are valid one month only.
All this is very confusing and it seems in this age of competition Mobilink is still bent upon earning revenues by confusing its subscribers by giving out different info and charging another tariff in reality.

It is no surprising PTA has given a deadline to Mobilink to get its act together and perk up its services or else face a stiff penalty of $300 million coming soon.

Hi every one.I am having problem with warid gprs for nearly 15 days.Before that it was working fine.Now when i connect it the byte upload is ok and fast speed.The bytes down load is nothing only few kb.So no browsing ,no messenger nothing works.When i call help line they give usual solutions like.1- please clear your browser cache ,off and then on your handset 2-please delete old settings and then download settings again and all will fine.3-this time there is congestion on network so gprs speed is slow. But these dumb things never help and helpline is usually useless.I am in faislabad and using nokia 6600.Any one can help then please tell me soon.I do not know for what they cut 64rupees per month.Warid Gprs is really third class these days,more over when ever i call on help line to add some number on friend family or for some thing else they start asking the id card number and etc etc,just to waste you time

Umer thanx for updating us with the Warid GPRS quality.

So there can be one solution only for you. Migrate back to Ufone GPRS. I wonder why you are you using the expensive Warid GPRS instead of Ufone GPRS. [addsig]
