Updated mine fine but had to use opera as IE6 didnt work. There is a new folder on the memorystick called mp3 after update were you can put all your music. The sound in media player is slightly louder as is the sound when making a call and the phone hasnt hang once in 30 min .

@UncleBob. If your firmware is R1A044 AFTER the update then it hasn't worked - it should be R1J002. R1A044 is the original firmware

Sorry, I just noticed my typo. It was R1A044 and its now R1J002 after I did the update.

I was busy playing with the phone while typing my original post and did not proof read before submitting.

Thats what excitement does to you...

PS. This update really did my head in as I could not get the bloody thing to work, thats when I decided to RTFM and saw a post with a link to the Flash USB driver.

To think, like a schmuck I held the c button in all the time, although it jumped quickly from 60-ish % to complete...

sim card makes no diff. as with other SE phones it uses the CDA to determine how it needs to be updated

mine also won't update and I get the same message even though mine is sim free and unbranded

my log shows...

It does make a change tho that Orange / voda and other operators get there updates first ?

Could this mean that the operators demand more for there customers?

masseur col dyou also update the main page with the new firmware??

Thanks Daz

@ Phantom & djsaad1:

I am in the USA too and I use Cingular. But I bought my phone from Netherlands and it has EUROPE_3 right now and couple of other members mentioned that the EU_3 update was not out yet.

Where did you guys buy your phones & what version do you have?
