@Foxhunter:
If you are upgrading from a previous version of SMan v1.3(a/b) then you can simply install over the previous version. The manual uninstall procedure is only for users who have SMan v1.2(a/b/c) installed onto their P9x0 smartphones.
@all:
Just to let you know that since SMan v1.0 was released, upgrading to a new version of SMan resulted in user losing all their settings. This will be fixed in SMan v1.4. What this means is that when v1.4 of SMan is released, installing that over previous versions will results in all user settings being lost. However, future version of SMan when installed over v1.4 will not results in the lost of settings.
The user manual has steps in there to show you how to preserve your settings when upgrading SMan. It is still valid steps except for the snapshot file which we have changed formats between v1.3 and v1.3a.

This is just a small announcement regarding the SMan project:
We have tried to be responsible developers by making sure we release a "world class" application that everybody wants and uses. We also do our best to fix bugfixes when users reported them. However, looking forward. We have got to draw a line in terms of support for the SMan application on the various platforms. If the platform is UIQ compatible and not mentioned here, it means we are doing it on a "best effort" basis with whatever limited resources we may have. Below are all 31-Dec dates.
Sony Ericsson:
P800 - 2004
P900 - 2005*
P910 - 2006*
Motorola:
A920 - 2005
A925 - 2005
A1000 - 2006
This doesn't mean we will not help you if you have a P800, it just means that we'll try our best but do not guarantee that future version of SMan will work with these platforms.
Sony Ericsson has requested we return the P900 and P910 and I have yet to hear from them on getting those units back, so I do not know if we can easily help users for both P9x0 platforms.
If anybody would like to donate a P900 or P910 to us, do PM me as we will need it for future support/developement.

Workaround for P910,SMan and SE Desktop
Hi
I had a problem with SMan crashing when using SE Desktop on my p910. This is how I fixed it.
1. Use some file manager (qfileman) and rename or remove the file c:\system\apps\SMan\SMan.snp. This makes it possible to start SMan again..
2. Restart the phone to flush unecessary tasks.
3. Start SMan and kill the task Desktop
4. Take a new snapshot and configure SMan to load at startup (with flipclose flush too).
This seems to work for me.
Best regards

@all:
An update to SMan. We are busy working on SMan v1.4 and things are starting to pick up speed. The only thing I can update you on now is...
SMan v1.4
1. There are three new modules in SMan, the modules also better integrate with each other (you'll know why when you see v1.4).
2. We have also added made one of the modules work in flipclose mode.
3. We have enhanced 3 of the existing modules with newer features.
4. A92x user reporting that some options are grayed out when they were able to use them in earlier builds have been fixed.
5. A1000 users reporting the they can't use bluetooth in v1.3 has been fixed.
On top of that, we will be releasing SMan v1.3d while we work on v1.4. This version will:
1. Fix the SE Desktop application from crashing the P910.
2. The P910 customized by Orange/O2/Vodafone crashing with SMan has been fixed.
The A92x and A1000 fixes are only found in v1.4 and not v1.3 as we had to re-code quite a bit of SMan to get those issues resolved.
The v1.4 feature set I mentioned are either done or being developed now, this may change as we may add a few more modules before release. More specific details will be published closed to release date.
Before anybody asks when we will release v1.4? The answer to that is "when it is ready."

Tip for Orange UK branded P910i users:
As you may be aware, some users with branded phones have experienced problems with Sman 1.3 whereby the application crashes with a kernel error when performing certain functions, notably closing down apps in flip open mode and when using the flip close flush function.
I've found that updating the firmware to the latest available version using the official SE site seems to have stopped both of those problems. I've reinstalled all of the apps that I had on there before and Sman still works ok, so I'm pretty sure that the problem is caused by a firmware / branding issue rather than other apps.
So if you have an orange branded phone and you're feeling brave (!) you might like to give it a go Let us know if you do because it would be interesting to see if my experience was just a one-off.

It's interesting you know: Before getting a P910i, I had a a P900 and before that a P800. On both the latter phones, Sman was a must to shut down memory-hoggig apps. Now, on the P910i, however, I haven't opened Sman in about three weeks, as it's pretty much impossible to run out of memory. OK, so you still *should* need it for file-management, but to be honest I haven't been doing much of that wither sinced using a P910i. I think that as devices become more enhanced, they will become easier to operate, and the need for applications like Sman will decrease. This is, btw, a Good Thing, as a phone should just WORK instead of requiring the user to change the execution permissions on bla_bla.cfg.
Anyways, not to discourage Ajack et al. doing development work on an app that's still ver useful to very many people. |

Maybe...
@lozishere:
Thanks for the comments, but SMan is more that a task manager plus the fact that even if you have lots of memory, the fact remains that running apps eat battery and the P910i's battery isn't exactly famous for it's long running times.
Like I said earlier, there is more to SMan than just a task manager and will get even more functionality in the next release...
