thats a LPA from Italy. had it installed (front blade and adjustable rear) by ReliableArms in ali-mall. simple job lang naman yan, but i dont have tools to do it properly.
next small project is to have adjustable sights for the USP too. with both of these.... i cant find anything else to correct, unless i have to be nit-picky. the trigger jobs for both are not so good, but being too spoiled by gunsmiths is not my kind of concept with handling guns.
hey.... saw your Pbase! that 44-Ruger and FN-C are great! lucky! i have questions and comments...but i'll send it via e-mail or pM. thanks! |

Same here, I like my guns stock. Gunsmithing usually leads to a "tekateka" gun if you luck out on your gunsmith.
That was an FN-CAL, the pre-cursor of the FNC, which were,as I'm sure you know, 5.56mm versions of the 7.62 or .308 FN-FAL. The CAL didn't do as well because it was expensive to produce and was harder to disassemble as compared to the FNC. I'll just await your email. Cheers |

Sorry for the long time between posts.
Just to answer a few questions regarding the AUstyr rifle i have.
These are not legal for civilian use in australia (bloody semi-auto pistols are gonna be on the scrap heap soon )
The calibre is 5.56, the rifel is great as it is made of plastic only weighs only 4.2 KGs when fully loaded.
For leftys, the platoon smithy will change the eject port direction (there is a port on both sides, one is plugged) and the round release pole is on the right side of the locking lug (im not sure of the names, cant be buggered remembering since recruit training).
The bullpup design is great, even though it is shorter overall than comparable rifles such as the M4, the barrel length is still full length, the trigger mech is just located in the back of the stock, and can be pulled out from under rubber stopper as a whole peice for easy cleaning.
Because it is short, it is great for convoys, and they even have a more stripped down version with bugger all barrel, but accuracy is dodgy.
Cya later. Questions welcome.

I was thinking of the same thing. Gun ownership will again be under attack because of the stupidity of some people. I hope people realize that its not the gun but the person behind it. Its people like this that give us gun owners a bad rep.

Great rifle, BTW what was that about semi-auto pistols going to the scrap heap? Are pistols about to be banned in the land down under? |

@Doctabako, I wanted to start a new topic unrelated to firearms, and thought the first post was a well written introduction to a controversial (to some) subject. So i was going to copy bits to introduce another thread? |

Unfortunatly i think they are. Some idiot went around a Southern Queensland University with a few Semi-autos and killed a bunch of civies. Pity, I wonder what will happen when someone in australia uses a bat to go on a rampage, no more sport?
There needs to be a more in depth testing when getting firearms licences (i know that you can get guns 'under-the-table' easily in Aus). Anything to weed out the whackjobs.
A few years ago a recruit blew about 6 members of his platoon and then himself down at the firing range. That incident brought in a lot more psych evaluations for recruits before they get theirs hands on an automatic rifle. |

The same thing is happening in our country, the noose is being tightened on responsible gun owners as a result of a few miscreants who aren't even supposed to have been allowed to carry guns anyway. I'm all for tighter requirements and testing if it means weeding out the undesirables which give the majority a bad rep. Right now its mostly a political question and we're hoping that things will get better once a new leader is installed.

Oh, okay then though I'm still not sure why |

doc,
unfortunately the noose is tightened only to the law-abiding people, and not on the criminals on the streets. i mean... the obvious places to hunt down the criminals are left uncovered... FX-mega taxis and buses and jeeps plying the notorious streets are left unguarded by the police, or no police-visibility. everyday we hear news of vehicles being held-up. while the law-abiding citizens are also victims of the pencil-pushing idiot emotional law makers who are against guns. where do you think they will be...the anti-guns... if ever i call for help, if a criminal treaten me on the streets? will anti-gun group come to help me... on time? |

Although its bad to wish ill of anybody, I think the only way for these anti-gun lobbyists to wake up is for them to suffer from all the things you stated. Then and only then will they feel the need for self protection which is what we really want. To be on equal footing with the criminals, responsible citizens should be allowed to carry whatever means of protection they feel comfortable with and shouldn't be penalized for doing so.
Aside from election fund raising, the current rise of kidnappings and street crimes can be attributed in part to the fact that criminals know that the issuance of the PTC is suspended and they can terrorize anybody on a whim.
What the anti-gunners don't realize is that, the fact that some of us carry firearms serves as a deterrent to bad elements as they don't know who is armed or not, and those who aren't as defense minded benefit from this perception and get a free ride. |

It seems I've sparked a debate, great.
In the army i depend on my rifle and handgun for personal security. I don't go around waving it above my head in a public area, hell its kept in a vault (along with 50 other rifles) with two seperate deadlock doors, vibration sensors and a camera.
I believe one major problem is keeping the gun (i hate calling them 'guns') both secure, so kiddies and robbers can't get their hands on them, but also handy enough for the owner of the house to access the handgun when that damn robber comes in. Then the robber sues the home owner for shooting him.
The politics behind firearm licencing and usage needs to be scraped completely and a new format concieved.
Gun's don't kill people, PEOPLE kill people. (the most popular retort to that is 'With Guns' )

doc and avatar... intelligent comments. i just wish the anti-gunners would come to finally think that way.
...yeah because of what the mis-informed emotional anti-guners did to the image of guns... they made it sound like guns are evil, and their owners are evil too. ( i just hope they won't outlaw kitchen knives or butchers knives too, someday, as evil gadgets. or baseball bats, or cigarette lighters, etc ) |

Debating about firearm rights is one of my favourite topics.
Being military i know both sides of the consequences of pulling the trigger. It doenst make me anti-guns.
Anti-gunners are usually people who have had children kill themselves and are trying to stop other teens topping them self, i respect that. But Like i said before it comes down to weapon security.
On another topic, and I'm sure this has already come up:
Your favourite rifle/pistol/other weapon?
Mine;
F88 AU Styr
Luger - i think its a funny pistol, up goes the shell, down comes the shell, on your head if not lucky. |
