Ha ha thanks! I'm loving this phone right now! Have a hard time putting it down. Been downloading the staple free apps and just messing around learning my way around the Android OS. My biggest gripe right now is the automatic screen lock, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to turn it off. Maybe not possible (hard to believe, but you never know)?
Anywho, I am ready for the .16 firmware though. I'm not a fan of the default keyboard, and I wouldn't mind better lowlight pictures and audio quality either. Awesome phone though. |

Hi Guys
Wondering if you can help out. I have a X10i from Orange UK, I tried to debrand it earlier today and everything seemed to work well. As I was in a hurry to go out I have noticed that I downloaded the X10a Generic firmware instead of the X10i Uk Generic firmware. When I go into the phone it is showing as X10a, I have tried the repair function in an attempt
to change the FW to X10a but I receive an error message asking me to check my internet settings.
I have removed and re-installed SE pc companion, but the same message appears. Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks in advanced. |

auto screen lock can be adjusted in the settings under Sound and Display. I liked the default keyboard, but it had the issue of not letting me see my phonebook entries when I tried to type an SMS in landscape. I switched to the HTC keyboard and everything's fine now. HTC keyboard has better autocorrection/spellchecking/prediction too. You should install it and try it out.
I also want the .16 firmware.. and hope it comes soon for the x10a. sound quality for me has been pretty good? What's wrong w/ yours?

@moogoo
Already installed the HTC keyboard...much better than the default in my opinion (though I really like the left/right arrows on the default one). As for sound quality, I was really referring to the earpiece quality, as in when on a call. I feel like there was some background noise when I was talking to people. Nothing horrible, but it was there. Not sure if that is the "audio quality" people are reporting gets upgraded though. Used a stereo bluetooth headset to listen to music yesterday and that sounded just fine.
I've experience a tiny bit of laginess here and there too, which may or may not be fixed by the new firmware. Fingers crossed. Still love the phone though. |

Many thanks for this tutorial Lollylost100
But I have the same problem than Spaceman27
I downloaded and installed the X10a Generic firmware whereas I have a french X10i, and now when I try to re install/repair X10a Generic firmware by SE PC Companion, I have the same message than Spaceman27 : impossible to download phone firmware, Check your internet settings.
It's as if SE PC Companion doesn't recognize the x10a firmware :/
Does anyone who has installed this x10a firmware was able to reinstall it later via SE PC Companion ? (as a hard reset but by SE PC Companion)
Thank you in advance for answers and help.
And sorry for my bad english :/

X10i TAC number is: 35941903 while the X10a has: 35942003. This means X10a@X10i and vice versa will never be able to update through SEUS again.

Bad new for me, but thank you for the quick answer
However I succeeded X10i@X10a because now I have the X10a firmware (with a X10i hardware I guess :/).
So I thought that doing the same manipulation as in your tutorial and replacing the X10a firmware downloaded by SE PC Companion by X10i firmware downloaded here is possible but apparently not...
The strange thing is that the step which block, is when SE PC Companion try to download original X10a firmware, not when it install the firmware (maybe it's the same thing here). |

Debranding won't unlock the phone. It just flash your phone to a generic firmware just removing the customization of the operator.

i was able to flash my x10a to x10i to ntt docomo with update service. now i'm going to attempt to flash the phone to it's real firmware - x10a. in about 15 mins. i'm going to see if this work. if it does and if i can get permission from the one that has helped me, i'll post some instructions here! |
