I guess SE is playing it safe by releasing it in a specific region first to see how well it goes.

i guess this update is for specific regions who faced problems.....i am from India and i hav a black Satio with R1BB041 and the new firmware is not available in my country...i saw that video of new firmware on youtube and my satio's menu speed is as fast as shown in the video...the only probs i faced are:

1. standby theme bug
2. video play error
3. sometimes the phone hangs but its like once a week
4. if i try to install stuff like HelloOx and hack my phone and install nokia applications...the phone becomes slow

other than that my menu and phone speed is fast...i hav been using my phone since 1.5 month...

i have the old uk firmware and mines seems as fast as the video in the previous post.
if the firmware update was to fix the problems that were in the phones that were shelved then why is it only available to silver models?
wasnt it all the black ones that were affected and removed from sale?

How can the new firmware be region specific... I have a black unbraded satio from UK, the only difference about the updated firmware is that a silver phone has been updated! I am sure colour wouldnt change anything!!?

SE has released updates for specific colours before, which can be treated as separate models in the same way as branded models if they so desire.

"SATIO no Update ReportIt would appear the Undisclosed Software fault in the BLACK Satio`s is that they cannot be Updated Via SEUS.

numerous users have updated their Satios BUT have Silver version of the phone."

This was posted on GSM Arena, could it be a possible theory as to why the Black ones were recalled and SE said the problems couldn’t be fixed with an update?

Would explain why only silver users are able to update as well? Bit worrying for me as I have a black one! Havent had really any problems so far apart from occasional shut downs when watching videos, but this is so infrequent it’s not worth bothering with, but still the thought of never being able to update isn’t good

Surely all black phones would be recalled if that was the case?

My black Satio was sent last week to SE (because it didn't boot anymore),
two Days ago I recieved a new one from SE.
The label on the battery cover says 26th of November (I don't know if this is the production date).

If gregpot2000's theory is true, I hope that they did a hardware revision change meanwhile......

btw. I can't update yet

Not sure if it is true, I’m hoping it isn’t but I just saw it posted on GSM Arena, and thought it actually could make sense with all the other things that have happened recently. Like CPW only recalling the black ones with the reason they can’t be patched over the air, and then a new update is released and only silver ones are receiving it.

It all seems a bit strange though how the colour would affect it? I changed my CDA on my c905 to get a new firmware earlier, and would have thought there would be a similar process to change a black handset to the code of a silver one if necessary?

hhmmmm gets better !
Plugged my satio into pc suite this morning for calendar update ... and apparently
there's new firmware (again) ... bloody hell thinks I .... I'll check SEUS as it gives me
version numbers ....

Can anyone spot the problem here - or is SEUS just going insane ???

Hi.

Not sure what has happened here, but I have had a look at my handset, and can confirm the F/W it is offering you to upgrade to is actually the original firmware that you would have had previously, not sure why it’s telling you it’s newer than the one you have though?
