Release in June?? That seems pretty optimistic with the fact that it hasnt been announced yet.
Chances are, it's going to be released before Satio anyway...

I'm wondering why is the release date of this phone not moved up seeing that it is running s60 v5 that is up and running in the Omnia HD? T I mean, Idou was already running it anyway. So, clearly with Satio it is just a matter just fine tuning it.

Yet another non smartphone from Samsung, it looks exactly the same as every other samsung too, what a surprise. I think the Omnia HD looks ok despite it's size, it DOESN'T look like every other samsung.
But no, this one can't match the Satio specs etc and I would buy a C905 or Aino cause they look MUCH better. |

yes but you don't buy a phone for the looks... well it matters alot, but not the most important factor. This phone is for pictures. And if it can take good ones, then it's a winner, because that's the role of that phone. I was a skeptic, but turned out that the C905 WAS improved till the release, so i hope they fix this one too. If it will be like the C905 (but better since it's new shit) then i will buy it. and OFC if the price will be ok. Considering the Omnia HD has more to offer (+HD playback and recording) and it's quite "cheap", SE will not mess this up and price it way above. If the price will be 450-500euros than it will be a hit.
Edit: 1 thing i REALLY like in the C905, is the sound in VR. Stereo and very good quality. If the Satio won't have it, shame on SE.. thats one thing no other company has.

You know - video recording is something that really interests me and is an area where devices are going to be separated from the good to the bad.
SE has for some time recorded poor quality video - and it's an area they were obviously not that interested in (and they used hardware that didn't really allow for it).
But, there have been many handsets offering VGA video recording at 15-30fps for some time, and now W-VGA or even HD. All well and good, but has anyone tried recording video with these? In my experience, they're fine if the camera is stationary, but move it around and you get horrid skewing problems and a failure to manage video where the content is changing/moving rapidly.
Being able to record high resolution is one thing, but is the video of a sufficient quality to replace a separate camcorder? Not yet.
Now I'm sure that this will be addressed soon, just as we had the long process from 0.1 and 0.3-megapixel camera sensors to 8 and 12-megapixel sensors today. It seems that every manufacturer is simply desperate to be first, and they're aware of the fact that early adopters will buy anything if it has 12MP or HD video to be first - even though after a few months, there's going to be little more than disappointment and a desire to upgrade to the next generation.
It's a real shame that every manufacturer has to play the game, but if they don't then people will simply say '5MP? that's rubbish' even though they probably want to take photos to bung on Facebook, view on their (at most) 1920x1200 pixel computer monitors or print at 6x4-inch or maybe the odd one at A4. Still, the increased resolution images do at least keep SanDisk and the like in business!

I dont even think VGA quality recording is all that right now. As soon as the camera sweeps from left to right then it becomes a stuttery mess. I think I'd rather endure good quality QVGA than mediocre VGA, especially if the vids are most likely going to be seen only on your phone anyway. Hopefully the newer phones have the option for QVGA built in to the cam functions.
I have excellent video taken from a NYC cab, going past Brooklyn bridge, recorded on a W900i and it was so smooth and clear.

Impressive! I'll eat my words, (but not those pancakes). I doubt Aino will have the same processor as Satio though, which seems to be placed higher in the range. That processor seems to have ironed out a lot of the stutteryness and it will be good to see some proper action shots taken with it.

Samsung enter the 12 megapixel competition with Pixon12
Samsung have long been rumored to have a 12 megapixel cameraphone in the works. Well, now it sees daylight for the first time - meet the Pixon12 - the first 12MP cameraphone to hit the market, scheduled for a June launch.
The M8910 is the model number standing behind the Pixon12. The new cameraphone pointed as Sony Ericsson Satio (a.k.a. Idou) competitor makes its mark with a 3.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a highly advertised 10000:1 contrast.
And taking where the original Pixon left, the Samsun Pixon12 now sports Wi-Fi connectivity along with the GPS receiver.
The Samsung Pixon12 camera goes further in to the mobile photography offering a 28mm wide-angle lens, both a xenon and a power LED flash (how's that for a change), D1 video recording at 30fps, tracking Touch Auto Focus, Smart Auto mode changing with the lighting conditions and all the rest typical high-end camera features such as geo-tagging, face detection, etc.
The rest of the Samsung Pixon12 specs are close to what the the Samsung M8800 Pixon offered - 150MB internal storage and a microSD card slot, HSDPA support and Bluetooth.
The Samsung Pixon12 won't be a smartphone, so expect the usual Samsung TouchWiz UI with some visual upgrades. Responding to the reactions of the end users to the lack of Wi-Fi in the Pixon, Samsung will offer it here in the Pixon12.
