Perhaps they didn't activate it cos after playing with it thought im taking it back, there must be some who have returned it due to stupid reasons (text messaging issues maybe) .. Are CPW selling on 02 this phone then? Whats stopping then selling it on other networks if da case .. Will it be sold on o2 payg?
Where have you been?! They merely sell the phone just like the O2 and Apple stores do, you activate and choose your tariff (on O2 believe it or not) at home via iTunes on your Mac or PC.
I haven't been watching this discussion alot if that helps..
btw im sure they'll be a way to get round that surely other then those options you state there.
not everyone wants to use 02 and tbh quite frank it prob will end up on other networks within a year or 2
if Apple launch iPhone2
then there gonna have to take alot off this topic to mind!

Apple and O2 have a 5 year exclusive deal, so no chance of legally seeing it on other networks til after then at least. |

That bit is at least true, provided its as it was when you bought it, and it's not activated. It's a Christmas exchange policy, they extended it by a few weeks for JUST the iPhone (note, not any other phone) to encorporate the launch as alot of people were buying them as gifts.

WHATEVER ANYONE ELSE THINKS I THINK THIS PHONE IS SERIOUSLY OVER RATED. And i think Apple have made a big mistake going with just O2. WHY.

they went with the network that has the most customers in the UK, how is that a big mistake? |

The mistake was, selling it to a SINGLE network, obviously restricting its overall sales to a certain degree, O2 like the exclusivity, but are making CUSTOMERS pay through the nose for the priviledge!!

Another mistake was in exclusively partnering with a network that only provides EDGE coverage to 30% of the population.

the device is a mainly internet device, which o2 have given unlimited internet access and free wifi access to their customers with the priceplans they offer for the iphone, how is paying £35 a month which is the average price of a priceplan, with any network, and getting unlimited net access, out of the ordinary???
no one is making customers pay anything, if customers are not wanting an iphone on the o2 contract, they do not have to sign up for it, they can buy it sim free from whereever they want. its not like o2 is holding a ak47 against everyone and making them sign up, customers are signing up, since they think its a good deal and are going for it.

and like the others wouldn't do the same? I thought so...
Anyway, 14 pages of this and who cares? If you want to get one, get one. If you don't want one or can't get one, don't, at the end of the day, even 1000 pages of moaning on here won't get you anywhere.
Having said that, it makes a bloody funny read, you guys should see yourselves, it's like being at primary school

well i think you should moan to apple about that, since its them who decide if its sim free or tied to a contract. |

Thats news I didn't assume 02 was the biggest network in the UK
btw what about Vodafone they have more exclusives then any network that 8GB Black N95 costing a Whopping £400 on a £25 per month contract
if people want a iPhone so badley then they will have to go and take out a contract with 02, Im certainley tho not amused by the handset and have left 02 anyways

THE IPHONE: Only 2 mega pixel camera does not have 3G cant remove battery have to send it away cant even send pictures messages. WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT. Totally over rated. Nokia has an 8GB mobile with better camera. The only thing i like about iphone is touch screen and screen quality.
