^ the SMSs received with the wrong time stamps are from local (Chinese) contacts, on the same time as me.
so probably, instead of changing the time manually when moving between time zones, you actually have to set a new time zone as your "present location" or you'll get the wrong time stamp? perhaps not a bug but it is significant to how the UIQ OS works (so smart its dumb).

I have heard that the P1i is faster than the P9901 and the M600i.
That might be true but i don't know about that since the P1i is the frist smartphone i have ever got.....But its actually slow to me.
It take about 2-4 seconds to load something as simple as the main menu and file manager. Also the web browser is way to slow. it takes almost doble the amout ofthe time it takes to load the main menu. Its not the Wifi cause my Wifi is fast so the web browser should be fast right?
I think SE should fix this.
Sorry mate,
there's no bug there. Had you done your research, you would have found out than any smartphone is slower than a normal phone.
Now you might gain a little speed witha firmware upgrade, but don't expect to get the same thing as on a 'dumbphone' (normal phone). |

Hi all,
first post here (and it starts with a problem).
I have the following problem with the Music Player on my P1i:
I have appr. 980 songs (ripped in AAC+ 64 kBit) on a 4GB SanDisk M2 stick.
When I press play in the Music Player it takes more then 5 minutes before the first song starts to play. When I go to the next (or previous) song manually, it takes also a couple of minutes before that song starts to play. If I do not touch the controls after the first song starts, it works most of the time perfectly (except the startup delay).
I tried to rerip my music in different formats (mp3, m4a, aac, aac+). I also tried to rip them with or without tags.
In addition I used a 2GB (instead of the 4GB) stick.
It does not matter at all. The more songs you have on the phone the longer it takes to start playing.
Using the same M2 stick (with the same number of files) in my SE W880i works without any problems.
So it looks like the P1i has a serious problem with the performance of the Music Player.
I also opened a case with SE but I did not get an answer up to now.
I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Freebird do you have it set to auto update every time the app starts?

@Freebird,
I've also got a P1i with Sandisk 4mb M2 stick. I've got about 800 tracks saved to the disk. I'm not experiencing any problems with the phone when I open the Media Player and no latency when selecting tracks to play.
As DragonEye says, have you checked your settings?

can you classify your music by genre? the music player works fantastically well apart from this limitation... |

nope you can't set be genre..
here's a recap of the issues i have found over 2 weeks and my wishlist..
-Speakerphone may be garbled when you press the speaker on button before the call is connected. If the call is connected and you switch to speaker phone there is no issue.
-camera has frozen about twice... usually when i get an sms in the camera app.
-also a few times the captured preview is currupted the softket part of the pic is missing. (it saves properly though just display rendering is messed, happened about 3x now)
-at times it can take a really really long time to enter the video folder when the phone recorded videos are saved (or mapped to) about 1 min.
-SMS timestamps are wrong vs. clock time on Rogers Wireless in Canada. (Happened with previous SE phones after one of the firmware updates.
Looks like SMS is being rebooted in GMT time and not adjusting
-----------------------------
items that should be addressed IMO (wishlist)
-P1i does not detect as a removeable drive on a mac.
-you cannot delete with the back arrow button in the filemanager but you can in the picture gallery. (consistency i think is important and should be addressed)
-when marking messages multiple messages if you open one be accident the marked ones all become unmarked. (a little annoying would be nice if they could address)
-the picture gallery needs more consistency in the views.
in the DCIM folder (camera/video pics) the images all display as a thumbnails 3X3. it doesn't do this anywhere else when using the picture gallery. you should be able to swtich views for all picture gallery area.. to list, icon, details etc.. (like k790 for example)
-improve camera exposure
-add h 2.64 support?
-hardkeys configured to change tracks or other music functions.. like activating teh * and # keys to change tracks.. the 0 plays and pauses now.
-support for reading embedded album art would be nice
-how about a standby clock?

Looks more like a possible bug in MAC OS rather than in P1 since that function seem to work in Leopard (see link below).

Strange, P1 white paper states H.264 is supported.

I got my P1 yesterday and compared to my M600 and P990, it is so much faster. So far it's proving to be the phone the P990 should always have been. But I have noticed that the blue triangular GPRS indicator on the top left of the screen (over the signal strength indicator) is never on unless I am actually using GPRS. Oddly, in 3G areas, the round 3G indicator can be on whilst the GPRS indicator is off.
Has anyone noticed this and can it be corrected by changing a setting somewhere? |

Nothing odd about that since 3G and GPRS are two separated networks. |

Didn't realise that but it doesn't explain why the GPRS indicator is on on my M600 and off on the P1 when they are on the same network and next to each other. Also, it is off wherever I go unless I actually try to connect to surf the web or download emails. It's not a big problem since GPRS is available virtually anywhere where there is a GSM signal in the UK but it still looks like a bug to me. Does anyone else notice this or is there some strange fault on my phone? |

Thanks for answering. I've already set the update to manual.
Do you have all your files in one folder or in more than one?
Which program do you use to rip your music?
Thanks
