you missed one part of the equation which is £40/month
you can also get it free on 12 months @ £50
looking at all the possibilities for 12 months the total cost seems to come out at around £500-£510

@upper,
Thought that was to good to be true it's £199.99 @£25pm but even so that still only works out @££499.99 with interest free credit of £300 and all those minutes and texts for free.
Marc
Actually on looking closer the best deal is actually £30pm and £129.99 for the phone making total cost £489.99. What i did notice as very interesting is both the P990 and M600 are no longer available.

its a very acceptable size given its functionality and, so far, ease of use, and on the topic of size I am very hard to please but this does fit very neatly in my hand
I'm assuming that others have the same thoughts? a very nice sized package
agreed with u masseur! A well balance phone and not too light either! |

Yes it's £40 but i'm sure you can lower the tariff after 6 months, no? or have they stopped doing that? If you can then that's even more better.

I think they are updating the 02 website that's why i think the p990 is not listed just yet. I was on the 02 website earlier checking if the N95 was out and it wasn't but after a few minutes i refreshed my webpage then it just appeard infront of me lol, then i though "I'll order one of those."

as far as I am aware, all the UK operators allow you to change tarrif halfway through the contract, be it 12 months or 18 months
all this really comes down to whether you want minimum up front payment with a larger monthly payment and hence more minutes and text, or whether you want a larger up frot payment with a lessor monthly payment and hence less minutes and texts
sometimes people just look at the total cost because they are finding a cheap way to buy a phone whereas other people are looking for the most value they can get from the package depending on the usage
for this reason a £19.9 up front +6 x£40 + 6*£20 isn't neccessariliy the best deal, eve if it ends up costing the less in contract numbers, because you may end up paying more in minutes and texts outside of the contract allowances
to be honest, this has always been my anguish about having to decide up front about how I plan to use my mobile and why I rarely take contracts.
I don't decide in advance how much I am going to drive my car and therefore negotiate a pertrol price based on that. Indeed there is little in my life that I have to decide up front in the same way we have to with mobile contracts
in summary, the point I am making is that there are packages and there are deals and it really depends if you are wanting the phone for the cheapest price, or whether you are wanting the package for the cheapest price
edit: ooooh! now I'm the philosopher, or is it accountant?

gps doesnt work for me(guess its coz im in Guernsey and tomtom/garmin dont work here either ( not much point on such a small island i suppose)) so ill have to wait till im in england next month to have a go with it.
really pleased so far.
battery life seems good, still on full bars after taking it off charge at around 12pm
camera is really good, and the build quality is alot better than the original one i had.

you're right, there's not much to offer for Guernsey on the N95, and I don;t know much about tomtom, but I'm a bit of a defender of Garmin and here is a high level screen capture from my Garmin 670
and a bit more detail
I can get even more details but you get the idea
Garmin is good

true if you're a resident, but the reason I first got a GPS all those years ago is that my missus is useless at direction and this save so many problems when we visit places!

yeah, the GPS will work virtually anwhere on the planet
the question really is about the available mapping at a given location and clearly the N95 maps have much less detail than the garmin.
The N95 has only the major roads from what I can see for Guernsey
