Thanks for the compliments guys.

i've been quite busy just lately, so apologies for slow replies to emails and forum posts. I've used the bits of free time i've had to work on M3 and the following update:

version 0.89.8

added: Mediainfo 0.7.4.3
added: dgindex 1.4.8
added: LPCM mpg/dvd audio stream support
added: .m4v isomedia filename support
added: quicktime-alternative detection
added: more detailed OGM debug info
added: DRC volume boost for DVDs and most files (not avi/mpg)
added: UIQ3Safe profile for occasional videos that break UIQ3 playback (snow effect on P990)
added: 904sh profile
added: optional profile images (try p990/w950 for examples)

fixed: "check your pids" error on mpg files
fixed: mpg/dvd files with non-standard audio stream IDs (amanno1)
fixed: error on files split into > 9 chunks (rizzouk)
fixed: allow (silly) people to use files in output folder as input
fixed: missing fps value for some OGM files (wishmaster)
fixed: x264 being encoded 176x132 due to aspect checks (creezalird)

The main new feature of interest is DRC volume boosting, which can be found on the Basic Options tab. This feature is especially useful for DVDs, as it makes the overall volume of the audio in video files much louder without causing any distortion.

The second new feature is per-profile device images. This is to help new users pick the right phone. Currently only the P990 and W950 have custom images. If you own photoshop, have some spare time, and would like to help out, you can find instructions on creating more per-profile images for other phones in program files\m3\profiles\addimages.txt.

If anyone has problems with DVD conversions in this release, please do send me the lastrun.log to m3bugs@gmail.com. Thanks.

A big thank you for all donations so far, halfway to the RAM target now.

The next release is planned for after the 20th of this month, and should be much larger. The following features are intended:

Dual-cpu support (40% faster conversions)
Optimisations for single-cpu converting (maybe 10-20% faster conversions)
More accurate and compatible 'convert from/to time:' ability
Aspect ratio: finer accuracy, manual correction
(possibly) real-time preview of output prior to encoding
Plus suggestions?

existing M3 users:

Next time you launch M3, it should prompt you to download this update.

New users:

You can download M3 here...

http://www.vapulus.com/w900i/M3-0.8.9.8-Installer.exe

You may also need the .net 2.0 runtime download, if you haven't already installed it...

http://www.microsoft.com/down[....]DD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en

(The .net 2.0 runtime needs to be installed for M3 to run properly.)

Hi, need some help here. Just want to know how long it takes to encode a 700 meg xvid file? It says here that it takes almost 40 minutes, is that right?

Depends on the spec of your PC, but sounds reasonable. Remember the quality is worth the wait, trust me

Just a suggestion, it would be better if the option to split the video to xx minutes had a check box to enable/disable it to allow no splitting.

I have a question:
Can the "ipod" setting be used for iPod Video? Or is that feature planned for a future version?

makbil, you can set the split time to 0 or 999 minutes to stop m3 splitting files of any length.

the ipod profile is for the ipod video, you can use that to convert videos for it.

note: the 'ipodh264' profile might not work though, i don't own an ipod and nobody has confirmed whether it's functional yet.

It need to be said ... I gave M3 a try ... and I guess I'm gonna stay with it!

Been experimenting with it for 2 days now and I'm very happy with it!
The quality is just so great! I'm also surprised what the W850i-screen was capable of ... Believe it or not, a full lenght movie WITH subtitles(!!!) is perfectly 'viewable' on the phone.

The only thing that I believe could be better ... is the converting speed.
But hey, you won't hear me complaining, great job!!
