The radio / music / video + HBH-DS970 implementation on this phone is an absolute winner..I think they have spent a lot of effort on the multimedia side of the phone and it shows..Not forgetting the still brilliant 2 MP camera and not-so-bad video..
Now then if the browser problem could be solved.....

I find it really annoying that you have to remember to close all running tasks one by one. My linux Motorola E680i was the same and I guess WM5 devices are the same. Why can't it be like Palm OS? Just by quiting the running app it closes? Sometimes you don't need to multi-task. I have a treo 650 and love the phone to death at its speed, software ability and one handed operation. I am soo tempted by the p990i but its seriously worrying me about all these problems and having to quit running apps.

@tboy2000
Multi-tasking has its benefits. I had a Treo 650 but had to sell it because it was not stable for me and BT and call quality was not on par with SE/Nokia. The P990 one handed operation now has improved with the flip closed functions. Jot is the same as Griffiti II but Agendus is not available for UIQ3. Also you'll miss the SMS tracking feature of the Treo on the P990.
@all
you must try the trick with watching a video and then letting the media player running. The acceleration of the user interface is astonishing!

Can anyone format their mem stick in the p990i??
I just tried 2 times and both times it crashed, first time it just hung and couldnt kill it with the task manager. So re-booted the phone etc then tried again..same thing but this time it crashed pretty badly...had to do a hard reset on it.
Anyone confirm this?? |

@Spawn
flip open mode, with file manager managed to format the 64mb duo card you get with the P990

Cheers Jah, looks like the 1gb pro duo card i had is a bit messed up so thats why it kept getting stuck. Just tried my 4gb pro duo and it formatted perfectly fine. |

When I send an invitation to an appointment I get an error saying that sending invitations is not supported. I have activesync set up as my default/preferred email account and I know I have recieved invitations.
Is this a limitation or an exception? I'm beginning to lose patience with the phone really. It only does things by halves.
Anyone know? |

Glitches I've noticed in the latest FW:
1. When trying to open a new SMS, occasionally it won't open. It tries, but then just returns to the previous screen. Restarting fixes the problem (temporarily).
2. When using the hardware keyboard, pressing the alt key to type a number doesn't work at first. It types a letter, so you have to use backspace - after that it works fine. This happens every time... |

Hi
1. Only time this have happend is when I recived a MMS with a picture when I was using the mediaplayer and browser at the same time. When trying to look at the mms it just didn't load the message...
2. I have also the new FW and I have no problem like this. Tell me exacly what to do to make it appear. I tried to make a new sms and appointment and start writing but no problems with numbers when pressing alt.

For the ALT number thing:
Open flip
Create new message
SMS
To:
Press and hold ALT whilst pressing P - the letter "p" comes up.
Release ALT, press and hold it again whilst pressing P - the number "0" comes up
Basically, it doesn't register the ALT press the first time you use it in a message... |

The keypad itself is fine, it must be a software thing. Maybe it's a UK firmware issue. Anyway, no biggie, I'm sure it'll get fixed soon... |

Then there is no problem with the software for you!
Just dont press the ALT-key! The "to"-field is for numbers and therefor the default is numlock.
Just domt press the ALT-key and you will get a number out of the P-key!
Or any other of the numbred keys..
