The MacBook Pro has a combined optical digital input/audio line in (minijack) so any surround sound system you get would have to have optical digital on it.

A MacBookPro will run XP using Apple's Boot Camp (and Vista too with a bit of help), but why would you want to? The whole point of buying a Mac is to use Mac OS X!

Because 'Boot Camp' (for booting Windows on a Mac) is a beta product, and Vista isn't officially released yet, its not officially supported. A few people have managed to get beta releases of Vista to boot on a Mac, but its not as straightforward as XP. You can be sure that as soon as the final Vista is available you will be able to boot it on a Mac.

ok to all the mac fans here I have just come accross the best im program yet, after using amsn for months it was driving me nuts so I had a rela browse and found this one:

http://www.adiumx.com/index.php

it supports all major im clients, to start offf with its a little annoying ddue to crap sound effects and logos, but if you go to

http://www.adiumxtras.com/

you can find a ton of cool plugins

I really recomend you use this as to be fair msn messenger, and amsn don't even compare to it

iTunes can do most of that with the help of some AppleScripts from:
http://www.dougscripts.com/itunes/
or the WBC iTunes Scripts Collection from http://beam.to/woodenbrain

Alternatively, if you prefer an application you can try: MediaRage
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15255

BTW, www.macupdate.com is a good site for finding all Mac software so have a look on there if you want more choices...

Here's a few OS X tricks:

Expose:
- If you're right handed, you'll benefit greatly by remapping your Expose/Dashboard keys to F1, F2, F3, and F4. Being able to use the mouse while using Expose is very useful.
- Activate either Expose mode corresponding to "All windows" or "Application windows" and then hit the tab (or tilde) key to cycle through apps but remain in the "Application windows" expose mode
- note: the shift-key-for-slow-motion also works with expose

Apple + Tab app switching
- press Apple + Tab to activate the app switching view, continue to hold down the Apple key and then press the H key to hide the app that's currently highlighted. This works for Apple + Q to quit an app.
- press Apple + Tab to activate the app switching view, continue to hold down the Apple key, mouse over (but don't click) an icon, then release the apple key. This is handy if you simply want to sweep over an icon on your way up to the top menu.
- Shift + Apple + Tab cycles backwards

Finder:
- Apple + 1, 2, or 3 switches between icon, list, and column view
- Apple + Up Arrow moves up the folder hierarchy
- Apple + Down Arrow descends into the highlighted folder
- In list view, Apple + Option + Right arrow expands a folder
- In list view, Apple + Option + Left arrow collapses a folder
- Apple + I brings up the "Get Info" window
- Apple + Option + I brings up the Inspector (which gives information about the selected Folder or Drive)

Safari:
- you can drag and drop an image to the Finder to save it, or to a Cocoa based text editor (like TextEdit) to copy it into the document.
- Go into Preferences > Tabs and check "Enable tabbed browsing" and "Always show tab bar"

any Cocoa app (safari, textedit, mail, etc.): dictionary lookup
- put the mouse cursor over a word. press Apple + Ctrl + D to get the oxford english dictionary definition
- continue to hold down Apple + Ctrl while moving the mouse over other words to continue getting definitions.

any Cocoa app: window buttons with modifier keys
- open several/many windows of a single app (Finder or Safari for example), hold down the option key, click the yellow or red window buttons in the upper left of any of the windows. This applies that action to all open windows of that app

any Cocoa app: text snippets
- highlight some text, click the mouse on the selection for about half a second, and drag the selected text to a Finder window, or to the Desktop (by using Expose) or to another document. This creates a text snippet, which is a text document that doesn't require an editor to view it.

any (document based) Cocoa app: the proxy icon
- press the Apple key while clicking the icon that appears in the center of a window.
This is the proxy icon. Doing this shows you the file hierarchy leading up to that file. You can click one of these icons in the hierarchy to open it in Finder.
- click and hold the proxy icon for about half a second. activate either the "All Windows" expose key or press Apple + Tab to switch apps. Continue to hold the mouse button as you drag the proxy icon to a Finder window or to another app or to the Dock (which doesn't require the key commands). Dropping the icon will either create an alias to the file or open it (depending on where you've dropped it). Combining the drop with the Apple key will move it, and combining with the option key will create a copy.
- open a Finder window to a folder of your choice. switch to an app like Text Edit or Safari and press Apple + S.This opens a dialog box asking for a location. Switch back to the Finder window, grab the proxy icon, Apple-TAB or use Expose to switch back to the window with the dialog box, dragging and dropping the proxy icon on the dialog box when you see the green '+' sign. This causes the dialog box to go to the that folder.
