Like Z series and XZ2/XZ3 combined. They're going back to their old roots.
I'd like to see more variety in design though. For example:
Xperia 1 series (Xperia 1 and Xperia 1 Compact) with a similar but more polished design of Z series as flagships, Xperia 10 series with bezel-less loop surface as higher mid-range, Xperia 100 series with bezel-less ambient flow as lower mid-range

@vivftp if the base model of Xperia 1 (as seen in the render) has 4K OLED Display and an appearance that feels and looks like an 'alpha' flagship, they shouldn't announce any premium model since it'll be redundant.

True, unless they take the opportunity to make the Premium into a different sort of beast. There's any number of ways they could do it such as folding screens, super high end specs, bigger displays, superior cameras... and whatever else they can think of |

I agree. The main thing about the Premium was always 4K screen and if that can be provided in "regular" Xperia there is no need for a Premium line of devices. Either way, it seems that we will have a new naming scheme so the regular/Premium divide is no more.
I must say the leaked design from few pages back looks great. I hope we don't need to wait for summer for 5G variant.

Premium evolving into a foldable phone would indeed be something premium.
I will be buying the new MWC flagship but after that my next phone could very well be a foldable one. I really like the concept and I will just wait for Sony to perfect the system.

Zackbuks teased the Resolutions for this year's phones. We already knew that the 5040 x 2160 will be inside Xperia 1, 2520 x 1080 will be in both Xperia 10 phone, and 1440 x 720 will be in L3, so the 3360 x 1440 panel belongs to....? 🤔
A more affordable Xperia 1 or Xperia 1 Compact, I suppose?

I wonder how many levels of approval Ambient Flow had to pass. I mean not one person thought it wasn't good?
That chain of bad decisions should have been fired too. After all a designer is an artist whose job is to defy norms.
I totally expect a more premium device. I don't know why, I'll have a better idea after we see the camera specs. |

wait a sec, i teased nothing besides I know nothing
Also if it is called Xperia 1 for the MWC flagship, it probably wont be 5040(THAT'S 5K ALREADY), it sounds right to make it back to 4K beginning of the year, such as 3840 |

Well 4K is also 3840 yet it's not called 3K (5K = 5120 × 2880)

I just searched for the value, when you have 21:9 the real 5K is 5120x2160. 5040 is almost there.

I'm pretty sure Tony said 3840x16XX is 4K and if it has this resolution it's the premium replacement.
For the 5K he said hopefully we'll see it this year. Meaning it won't be here soon.

So the regular flagship will be 3360 x 1440 and the Premium will go 5K?
Tony, how about you pitch in on this one.
People are confused.

Dont think it's genuine
Sony wont go for a low mp count i think
The phone requires at least 3900mah
With samsung providing North of 4000 mah |

I don't know if it is genuine or not, but I am worried about the chipset choice for the midrange.. Also.. L3 seems to have been remodeled?
As for the battery, Sony has good optimisation, I trust them.. It should easily get one and a half day usage.. But the thing is, if it is really 4k then I don't see why they would put 3300mah battery.. XZ2 Premium had 3500, yes? So 3300 for 4k seems a bit off.. Anyways, hoping for the best.. 8mp selfie cam is off too? |
