Does anyone know if the Xperia GX supports MirrorLink?

If not..hopefully the worldwide cousin will. Galaxy S III supports it and it's a feature I'd love to see in the Xperia GX considering they had a working Neo prototype at CES in January.

Whats with the icons on the bottom ? Looks horrible, like iOS/TouchWiz.

Very impressed with both phones even tho the SX really grew on me. Not a fan of on screen buttons tho, figure it will be annoyin typin in landscape only to hit the Home button by mistake? Plus the Xperia P's buttons is unique. I wonder how much better will the new generation Exmor camera be. That and the S4 was the only reason I was interested in the GX.

They look better than the stock Android icons, at any rate.

Google's pushing for OEMs to use software buttons instead of separate soft/hard buttons. That's more or less all there is to that.

The Sony logo isn't the notification light, it will light up in the a similar way backlit buttons do e.g. when the screen is unlocked.

Also, we have strong hints and rumours that the international GX will be very similar to the Japanese version but we shouldn't expect it to be exactly the same. For example the Japanese version of Arc (and the GX) have the Japanese only mobile wallet tech. The international version won't have this. In Ac it made the JP version thicker, so much so that they removed the arched back. This may be what has caused the GX to have a smaller battery, making the compromise here instead of in the design. Again the international version may have a different.

Notification light -> top right next to the sec cam

The icons are only for docomo devices, it is their own skin.

Thanks for clearing that up, makes sense as it was weird to see the normal Sony icons then those on another device. Should be a good year for Sony Mobile, all I feel is left to see is international GX and that supposed qwerty phone.

You actually prefer the stock squat-looking Google icons?

At any rate, I just double-checked with my Xperia when I got home; the icons are Sony's customized icons, not Docomo's, as the back and home icons match the back and home icons on my Ray.

NEWS:Sony helps you 'personalize' your Xperia further, announces case maker partnerships

Hello everyone – today we bring you some exciting news!

As you know, design, hardware as well as software, is a key part of the Xperia smartphone and Smart accessory creation and development process. However, we don’t manufacture the cases and shells that can give your smartphone that extra cool individual look.

So today, we’re excited to announce new partnerships with leading accessory brands, to enable true personalization of your Xperia smartphone.
To make this happen we have created a new partnership program with case and accessory manufacturers. The market leading brands that have joined us so far are: CaseMate, AGF, Incipio, Krusell, Dicota, Copter, Muvit, Roxfit, Orbyx and Shinnorie.

Our new friends will announce exciting and stylish products for Xperia smartphones from mid-May.

Mint is going to AT&T

LT30at

Unknown13:

Sorry, its LT30at, but there is LT29a. LT30 is the Mint, LT29 is the Hayabusa. Believe me?

and no, the 1 and 2 number after the letters aren't year related. They're "generations". Doesn't mean that they can't go from LT20 to LT30 within a year.

Based on U13X it will have slightly better specs than the LT29 Hayabusa. Metal body and 1850 battery.
Hopefully it will come with the MSM8960 Pro.

Somebody said here that the GX screen has 100% NTSC color! That's good to hear but I hope the screen brighthness level would be at 650 nits, it would not make that much impact if the screen luminance is low. There has to be a balance. Also, it would be nice if it can match the Xperia Neo in handling black color and the wide viewing angle of Xperia P. Well, I would also want Sony to use Gorilla Glass 2 as outer glass layer. Although Sony is doing great in catching up to the cOmpetition lately, they still lag behind in the screen department. Yes, Sony has White Magic Display but they put it on a mid-end product! I don't really care whatever screen technology as long as it has the all things I mentioned in the beginning of my posts.

Anyway, I think the devices that Sony is going to release in the 2nd half of the year must be really good, especially the high-end ones! Samsung and Apple are both due to release their respective flagship phones at this period and both are expected to best sellers because of their huge followers. Sony, on the other hand, is still trying to penetrate to markets where these two smartphone giants dominate! So every single detail of Sony's flagship phone features must be perfected and spot-on. I really hope that Sony consider the bigger capacity battery minimum 2200 mAh, better screen and faster CPU.

I applaud Sony for going with the new way with on-screen keys and no Menu button, so they'll follow the Android 4 style more closely than SGS3, which still uses the old style.

It would be great if someone(eprice? or any of its Japanese counterparts) could post samples taken by the GX's camera, I really want to see the performance of that 13MP RGBW Exmor-R sensor as Xperia P's camera was so impressive that I'm hoping for the same brilliance from its higher class sibling
