Well mate....let me tell ya about Nokia N80:
-i have it also (but hope to sell it asap) for about 2 months
-just got my K800i today
-photos compared (i am a photographer) between those 2
-no way: SONY K800i makes the better pictures, no matter of daytime
-as for the video....also, just the N80 make the bigger sized
-my N80 is slow like hell, still compared with my N70 way ahead faster !!!
-N80 slider is moving about 1mm side by side, also the battery cover
-Symbian 3rd edition is kinda buggy and slow
-memory management is really bad on the N80
So said (just my ho)...i sell now my N80@ebay
Also my N70 ....will get instead the M600i
BTW. i also own the N90...must tell ya that the photos AND videos made with it are BETTER than the on with N80 but inferior (just pictures) to K800i.
cheers, |

@nemo66
Before you try to criticise what somebody has written, especially in their signature, please read what their current one is. That signature is about a month old from when I first go the N80 before the K800, I only wrote because I was truly gobsmacked by its quality in all departments, however, since aquiring the K800, I since realise that yes the photos are better, no the video isn't as good, but well improved, but that isn't completly what my signature suggest. In s software department, the K800 stands no chance, UIQ v Symbian, no comparison! So there the N80 wins for software and video, and th K800 in photos. I've been on these forums long enough to know a good phone and how to compare them!
In future, I suggest you don't use your first post as a criticism of a another person, unless you've got some experience!
Cheers!

I loved the n80 when i had mine...the wifi i had set up in no time...everything about the handset i loved..except the battery life..i couldn't handle just a days battery...i know the camera will improve with newer firmware, but i couldn't wait...shame..as i encoded a few video's and there were fantastic quality..the best ive seen on a mobile...now i have the k800i..and it's great..very stable for a first round release...miss the n80 though.. |

Recieved my k800i today from o2 and it looks ace, however the lens cover is slightly loose at the bottom end.
Put it on charge an hour ago (not turned on) and it now says fully charged when i press any button. The manual suggests a charge time of 2.5 hours and many people initially charge for longer than this. Has anyone else experienced the k800 displaying 'fully charged' after such a short duration of initial charging?
What would anyone suggest, maybe turn the phone on and see what the battery indicator suggests?

@mike03
i emailed se regarding this issue. They said to charge your phone for 12+ hours just to make sure the battery is fine afterwards.
i charged my w900i like u said and the battery had bad usage time, so...... |

Thanks for the quick reply. I can't wait to have a fiddle with the phone, so would you advise charging it for 2.5 hours or more, but turning it on after a while (phone still charging) so i can have a little play with it. Or would it be wiser just to leave it.

Suppose it's for the best. Think i may have to go and put it out of my view so I may be able to resist.
One last question-Did they suggest 12 hours was the optimum initial charge time or should it be left for longer? As after 12 hours it will be nearly 10pm here so i could just leave it overnight aswell if that were to help anymore. |

if you have already got it on charge jsut leave it overnight then. If you havent already charged it, put in on a bit later so that when you wake up in the morning its had its 12+ hr charge |

I didn't charge my K800 for 12 hours, just for like 3hours, and I give it around 2.5hours regularly like it says to... Have I damaged the battery?
Cheers

Well the manual just suggests 2.5 hours for a normal charge but I have heard people saying they initially charge their phones for longer. |

yes the phone does say 'fully charged' after bout 2.5 hrs, i did that with the k750i, left it on charge at a mates house for that time frame, then playedwith it a bit on the way home, then left overnight to charge...
but se email said to charger for 12+hr to be safe, so its up to you guys, if anything does go wrong warranty does cover battery, just say the battery is STUFFED even though you charged it for 12hrs, and they will replace it, should anything go wrong with it..
i usually charge overnight for bout 12hrs, maybe little more sometimes...

would you recommend that i switch from w900i to k800i? i read alot of reviews saying that the video is poor in k800i since it uses qcif? can you help me decide thanks |
jj03 Joined: Oct 29, 2002 Posts: > 500 PM |
well..it does qcif..it's basically the same as the k750i recording wise...it's something that doesn't personally bother me..if ya want to record goodish video then the w900 will do.... |
