I cant really say by now, its evening and Ive only been able to take a few low light pictures, which I usually never do.
Ill have to wait till tomorrow and shoot some pictures of my normal motives in normal lighting.
One thing I can say though, is the picturesizes are bigger, like they were on R1A, meaning less compression.
And videoquality is back on top again, like R1A, bitratepattern is now again varable up to maks 200kbit/s, instead of 70kbit/s as on R1J/R1L

Hi,
I was wondering why the Sony K750i video quality is poorer than the E720 Samsung? I mean it takes exceptional pictues with it's 2mega and the exposure setting is way above par. So why the poor video quality? And it's not even 320 x 240.

The video quality isn't as stellar as it should be, but it IS now pretty decent with the brand new firmware that came out which restores the original compression that was nerfed oh, so long ago. Now video is clear, albiet small. |

The videoquality is in fact very good as it is now.
But you have to take into acoount what is the purpose of the video recording, and what is standards. And not just make a comparison to one other phone, which accidently now records in 320x240. Thats not the point.
Mobiles are not ment as a replacement of your video camera, allthough in time videorecording will also be better on mobiles than it is today. Just like still camera has developed on mobiles.
Videorecording/playback on mobiles was implented only for commercial reasons to boost MMS, and other commercial services like Videostreaming. It was not implented just to please your personal requirements for videorecording. To be able to use it for mms, videostreaming etc. you have to follow some standards that all mobiles following the same standards can use. Hence the 3gp standard, which specify resolution and codecs used. S//E follow these standards.
320x240 is not a general standard, only a very few number of mobiles have just recently begun supporting this as the demands for videorecording for personal enjoyment from consumers are increasing.
As usual I also allways get slightly irritated when a single litle feature is taken out of context and compared to some other device as if this is the only thing that matters. One has to have a litle broader perspective than that. The K750 was not created to be better than any and all present and future mobiles from competitive brands in every single aspekt. Then it would have been priced 10-20 times higher than it is. The K750 is a very well balanced phone featurewise compared to price and competitors. It outbest some in certain features and doesnt in certain other features. Thats the way it will allways be. So the Samsung has better videorecording, but the K750 has other features that are better than the Samsung. Then you might as well ask, why doesnt the Samsung has a 2mp cam as good as the K750 ?? Why doesnt it have themes like K750, why this and why that ? There will allways be differences. One just have to look at the whole package and deside which package is best according to personal needs and wants.

@ drlau9 - You are comparing apples with oranges regarding the E720 and K750i's video quality. The E720 does MP4 recording, while the K750i records 3GP. MP4's far better. But if the K750i video quality (plus some of the picture compression issues) finally gets fixed to decent level with the latest firmware update, I'll be happy.

I have just updated my K750i to R1N firmware.
Before updating I took a video and afterwards I took the same video.
Here they are for you to compare:
VIDEO WITH R1L FIRMWARE (POORER QUALITY)
VIDEO WITH R1N FIRMWARE (BETTER QUALITY)
The new firmware is clearly a lot clearer.
Makes the Video camera much more useable.
