Well, i try and buy virtually everything, i enjoyed using the BB infinitely more than the iphone thats for sure, if i ran contract SIM's instead of PAYG ones i'd seriously consider one longer term

Hi!

I am searching, but does nyone have the link for Vodafone Sat Nav, within this thread?

found on page 115, installed now......

I have another problem, with my memory card.

Does anyone have problems with their memory cards? I have tried two 8gb cards in my Bold. Formatted them using Windows, and also have use the Bold to format.

Transferred files using a card reader, and also transferred using the desktop manager,

I have English, Japanese and Chinese installed. So when I transfer Japanese music, a card error message is shown advising me to run a disc check utility.

Even downloaded a formatting program by Panasonic and still errors after transferring music.

The only thing I can think of, is Asian fonts are not compatible !

Any ideas?

Hi all,

Well i was a BB newbie when i got my Bold late August and bar the really rough 0.92 first firmware i had on it has been rock solid with no problems at all.

I have flashed it loads of times as each time anew Beta Firmware is released i grab it and virtually each one has just improved the Bolds performance further. I wouldn't swap my Bold for an E71 and a pile of cash as IMO bar the build materials the Bold is just so much better then each to their own. Obviously i can only speak from my own experience which has been excellent and problem free, i mean for the first time ever i even took apart my phone and fitted a new bezel and even that was pretty easy. Now idea why some of your Bolds have given you so much grief but i don't think you are the only ones as others also seem to have problems to although a minority of users it sucks when it happens to you.

@Ofiaich

I suppose the only way and easiest way to find out is try a memory card with no foreign stuff on it and see if it still gives an error. If it doesn't add it and if the error then appears logic would say that is what causes the problem, no idea why though as i would of thought Data is Data and just 000's and 111's in whatever language. What make are your data cards? and i would definitely format them in the Bold not Windows. We know Asian Fonts are supported so can't imagine why the wouldn't be on the memory card as it's just another drive being read.

thanks Marc,

done that.

Without Japanese music files, the card is OK. I did transfer a Japanese album to the device memory, and that then could not be read.

So I have to format the device memory.

Interestingly, my address book, and schedule has many Chinese and Japanese inclusions. Some photo's too have Japanese names.

Both cards are Sandisk,

Right first off having used a BB for nearing on a year, I have to say its an amazing device stable software, amazing email and well good form factor. That is until I tested the X1 Xperia, damn was I blown away....

I am not one for writing reviews and I wont start now, but I am in environments that require me to a)have some form of gps mapping b)quick response time and all round solid form factor for the elements.

The X1 brings all that, push email, restarting of phone from cold in seconds (this is very very important to me as blackberries take on average to many minutes) I could be in a hotspot and need to make a call quick and thats just not going to happen with a BB. Secondly maps, this is meant to be a business phone but not everywhere you visit has GPRS to download maps, this was the deal breaker to be honest, with WM6 I got every map I will ever need and even for the most remote locations. Finally 3rd party apps, I am a strong believer in once you buy the phone free apps (legal) are really what this world needs as I am sure you all know that list is endless on WM6.

So what am I saying, well the day BB allows offline maps, and a few more free apps developed and opened up to more developers il be back, but for now its Sayonara from me and X1.

Goes off whistling in the wind

@themarques

Which just goes to prove we are all different the X1 lasted under 24hrs with me before being sold and after 4 months the Bold just gets better and better. The text on the Bold you have just so many choices on the X1 it's tiny and sorry but any device that needs a series of tweaks and fixed to even operate normally straight out the box is a great big fail for me. I also love the fact i have needed to add so little to the Bold to do all i want. But hey if you like the X1 and WM good for you i certainly didn't like it all, in fact couldn't shift it fast enough.

@Dogmann And like you say everyone is different, the Bold is an amazing device no doubt for simplicity and speed. But like I said major drawback for me was offline gps. With regards to the tweaks well come on, I think secretly we all love to do a bit of hacking here and there to make the device "custom".

I don't think any device is perfect out of the box and the Bold had its fair shares of problems if memory serves me right, but that's were the problem comes not much you can do on the Blackberry OS to sort the problem out "yourself", you have to wait on a firmware update. And so I applaud the WM community and their constant drive to make the device as custom as you like. I'm a lover of bespoke and this has tailored to my needs right down to what it offers.
