Dont complain about reception and battery life, i had the z1010 before my k800i. Batterylife is more than double, and the reception is much better now.

Have to say i'm slightly disappointed with the k800i.

b) reception - the big letdown. I have two vodafone contracts and the one in the k800i has spent a lot of time saying "emergency calls only" even though the k750i sitting next to it has three bars of signal.

Weird, mines exactly the opposite. Went to visit friends over the weekend where I could hardly get a signal on my K750, and yet the K800 had 4 bars and even 3G coverage!

just a quickie, are there any glaring problems with the firmware that ships with the K800i? Or does it suffice?

The camera lens has come open a few times in my pocket now but not too often to anoy me. I just hope the slider click doesnt wear out.

Did this ever wear out and become loose on the k750 ?

I do agree the slide camera protector looks like all you need is a carefully placed key in your pocket and it'll pop off. Lets hope not.

so i take it everyone's camera slider thing is a bit wobley? Mine feels delicate. one question, does anyone know how to make the sound settings stay. for example, when i have the caller volume to maximum, then turn the phone on and ogg, the caller volume will have gone down to 6/8th's. if you get what i mean!?

I have to say that i also get a terrible reception on this sim free k800i now compared to my other phones, reminds me of my first T610 (signal bouncing all over the place).
I use 2g mode only with an o2 sim.

Loving my K800i 2nd day of ownership hehe, straight fedex overnight from Wireless Imports, I just coulnd't risk a bad sale from another site selling it for cheaper.

So far no major complaints, still have the clear plasitc over the screen... though what GSMarena said about the keypad is pretty true, it being easy to navigate without looking horizontally, but trying to figure out the keys without looking vertically is really hard. Also I thought that all K800i are suppose to come with a M2 memory card, was going to ask wireless imports about that, but it wasn't listed on their K800 page.
