problem is lack of device choice. WM5 you can select ones with or without keyboards, big ones small ones shiney ones black ones silver ones.

UIQ3 or even UIQ2 for that what are your choices? Pxxx and 1 or 2 more.

The Jamin is slightly smaller in build than the 990 but with the same resolution screen. Its out now, costs about £400 sim free which will no doubt be £100-£200 cheaper than the 990 should it ever get released. With no details or possible dates from SE whats the point. My company tasked me with finding a P900 replacement. The P990 was it, we will now be buying Jamin's for everyone. Time is important.

I was downtown in sthlm today and talked to Telenor,... they still got the dates july/august.

But ill guess as long SE said Q2 to us, we wont change our minds about it until they tell us a Q3 =)

I saw the screen down there that they are getting it july/august.. bad news for us.

whos to say that wont slip again.

The thing will be ready for a newer model by the time its out.

Too late and it could spell the end for SE's UIQ work. With companies loosing interest and moving elsewhere this delay will no doubt hit them hard.

They dont want the sales to the odd SE die hard fan here and there. They want to the business market, the companies who install the thing across their entire fleet and buy them by the box. Still no indication of final price or availability this is just getting stupid.

Do we really expect them to announce it all then release the following week? It can take weeks if not months to get them on the shelves.

Also the m600 was rejected by telenor, and was sent back, telenor's staff taught that it was too buggy, so SE got them back. But i think thats just telenor that sent them back. According to SE its fine.

Has anyone been paying any attention to the M600 prices, it has dropped seriously in one week!

This is totally unrelated to the P990i, but maybe you all can help me as we await the beloved device.

I am spending July and part of August in London and plan to travel outside of the UK as much as I can. I am bringing my Blackberry and Z800 but T-Mobile will charge $1.00 per minute for all calls. This is simply too expensive, so if you guys have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them.

Also, this is my first time in Europe so any tips and must-see places would be great too!

you can go into any phone shop and buy a pre-paid sim card for £5, just top it up and talk ! i would do this for every country you enter, also the post office do some kind of international calling card. I think you call some phone number, then enter a serial number and call for free....something like that anyway

Slightly off topic... but I caved in, being forced to wait too long for the P990i, I went and got a Blokia N80. Being a log-time SE user... I am not pleased with my first few days of Series60... This phone has had rave reviews... but I now miss the sheer usability that SE offered. Many people compare the two as competing handsets... I have a feeling I should have waited to see both in the flesh. I sense I may return to the SE fold in twelve months' time...

Thanks for supporting S60 buddy Now what firmware version does your cell use ? You wont get a better 'poked rocked' for the next few moths or so. The N93 will be king later this year but until then . . . And lastly -this been a P990 tread- why can't Se give us the wifi-g standard in this 'flag ship' model ? One will 'downgrade' if he was to change later from a N80 to a P990 (at least from this point of view) Greetings from South Africa. Mario

I wish someone would say that to Microsoft. We're currently waiting to update our somewhat antiquated Micforsoft Office software and at the latest the release date has been put back from September '06 to January '07.

As for Vista, Q1 '07 with 75% (optimistically) of the original specification is the latest in a long line of delays.

It makes S-E look efficient and prompt.

IMO its best for them to 'delay' the release time as it ensures a better built phone. If they are rushing to meet the deadline then they might increase the risk of bugs, faults, etc

We all want a well built phone and bugfree, but at least say something,... cause we aint nuts that just sits and belives fearytales. Telenor has july/august. We got Q2, when will we be given a new date? 27 june? and they tell us, just one month more. Cant they just pop the ~date now so we atleast dont hang in there on hope and faith for Q2.

se has had a lot of time to develop the p990 .Its a long time ago since they released the p910 .i for one think by now we should be seeing the release of the p1000 and not idly waiting for the p990 ,its high time the research and development team for the pxxx range got off their lazy butts and started earning their monies-after all motorola did release a 3g device on symbian UI and with wifi on board andthat was a year ago so why should the p990 be any different

Because its symbians fault that the p990 was delayed.. SE is not the actually maker of the os.. Symbian is the maker, the P990i was planned to be released a year ago but because of problems with os they had to delay it..

cheers^^

So you're saying the P990i was ready for release a year ago ? so how come it only got announced in October ? and how come its taken an entire year to sort out the Symbian OS ? we're talking about a mobile device here, not Windows Vista.
