I really wonder how many lost opportunities there were at Sony mobile over the last 10 years with HQ from Japan stepping in to kill projects or downgrade parts.

Here's the thing.
In 2019, Sony sold 2,4 million cameras.
- 1,65 mi were mirrorless
- 10.000 were dslr (extinct A-mount) , they still have units to sell but haven't created new models in years.
So, this leaves about 740.000 for the rest.
This includes RX0, RX1, RX10, RX100 and pocket cameras (those with 1/2.3" exmor).
Xperia sell 4 -5x more than these cameras.
I would not be surprised if 1, 5, 1ii and 5 combined could easily sell way more than this in 2020.
Turning 1ii and 5ii into pocket A9ii may be a sign they now see this. Compacts cameras are doomed.
This is a great chance to let xperia take over.

Yeah probably that time they haven't completely absorbed Sony Ericsson and did not want it to affect their PS Vita sales. |

It not only has 240Hz touch sample rate but also 240Hz "refresh rate".
I guess it's only for some gaming app but isn't it the first for smartphone?

It's done by black frame insertion, much like 1ii's motion blur reduction or TVs. |

I thought they want to replace their compact cameras; IMX 557 albeit excellent is a no replacement to the image sensors their compact cameras have. Guess, should lower my expectations from Sony  |

I'm surprised people aren't asking for a full frame sensor in the next Xperia, and then being disappointed and say they should lower their expectations 😉 |

I think XJ means front camera will still be 8MP 1/4".
I suppose they plan to use micro matrix for III ... |
