I have zero focus issues with my XS and i have been doing extensive testing with the camera. I love photography, so getting to know the capabilities of the camera on my XS is important. Better to test it out than lose that shot when you need it!

Not sure why people are complaining about autofocus issues. Even a dSLR won't be able to focus if there isn't enough light. It also won't be able to focus if you're trying to focus on a flat surface. For autofocus to work, you need to understand what the camera is looking for and what it needs. Autofocus requires some detail (could be as simple as a line drawn or naturally occurring edge, etc) and enough light to see the detail. With these two requirements, autofocus will work flawlessly and if it does not, then there may be a problem.

In addition, XS gives the option for many types of focus. Personally, I like using the camera button over the touch screen one since it allows the 2 step capture (first autofocus and lock, then capture when i'm ready). I haven't used the touch focus much so I can't comment. If using the camera button, there are two types of focus (1) single and (2) multiple. The multiple will basically try to focus on the closest detailed object in the frame whereas the single focus will try to focus where ever you point it.

Anyway.. i'm sure a lesson in autofocus wasn't necessary, but it seems to me that any autofocus issues people are experiencing may be due to user error and not any fault of XS. Of course, what do i know.. i'm just speculating

So, since XS is one an experiment phone in that program.. (can't think of it) where XS would be eligible for vanilla upgrades to android..

does that mean we'll be getting jellybean soon? and will it be the vanilla version?

if anybody has a link to that program or whatever that i can't think of for more info, that'd be great.

As said a million times, here and other places, no. That is a test to see how hard is to implement a new device on the AOSP program. We may have some progress once Sony's JB is released, but nothing of this means official Vanilla upgrades.

The main problem is with the email app.
The problem is that it has absurd limitation of 25 emails which can be stored on the phone.

It means that even if I download 200 emails with bodies to my phone, with the next login/refresh everything is deleted and only 25 emails are left on the phone.

This makes the whole app totally useless.
Completely unprofessional and idiotic.
This happens both on POP3 and IMAP.

The person responsible for this design decision is a complete idiot.

Can we finally have a profi app??!! Why can't the user decide what he has on the device!! Why every other 3rd party app allows these things! Why am I forced to use other email apps!

isn't that more an Android/Google issue than a Sony XS issue?

I only use gmail and I obviously have very different needs than you. Sorry you have to use a 3rd party app, but if you can address your needs using a 3rd party app, then what's the big deal?

It is not Android issue because on Arc, Xperia X10 Mini I was able to have as many emails I wanted.
It's the idiotic design.

The issue is I would prefer to stay with the inbuilt app instead of 3rd party one.
It is logical I guess.

@doministry interesting.

@anyone

has anybody rooted their XS using bin4ry's script from XDA?

I'm trying to do it on my macbook and i keep getting an error saying it can't execute the adb file. permissions look correct.. i have no idea what's wrong.

Could be a macbook compatibility issue? who knows. bleh. What other methods did you guys use for rooting your XS? any help would be greatly appreciated

What autofocus issue?

Yellow tint appears on some devices, it's hardware related.
What about that?

Yellow tint was only on the first 15 weeks of production. Rest assured you won't have it.
