does any1 else has the prob with the location based application which comes pre-installed with the satio.

I used to get gps locks within minutes but now it can only find only 1 or 2 satellite as max.

i think there is a prob with the server or somthing because i tried a friend 5800 (it has the same application) and i can find 4-5 satellites.

The server settings i have is supl.sonyericsson.com

appreciate the help

My Satio battery life is poor it barely last for one day even for a normal usage. but my w995 has excellent battery life though it has 900mA.
I keep two batteries for Satio. Hope firmware update improves.

I've noticed that I can't seem to get a GPS connection since installing the last firmware (R1CC001 on Orange UK). With the old firmware the GPS lock-on would be established within 20 seconds or so (using aGPS). With this new firmware, the phone just displays 'waiting for GPS'.

I have the same server settings (supl.sonyericsson.com) and under the 'positioning methods' menu I have 'Internal GPS' and 'Network based' both ticked, but I think the problem is that it doesn't seem to be using the internet connection at all (No internet icon displayed at top of screen). Are there any other settings I need to change to enable the 'assisted' part of the aGPS?

^^ I have exactly the same problem, it doesnt find any satellites. I think this problem came with the new firmwares and i've read that reinstalling the firmware could fix the problem. I will when i have time.

I used to have this poblem with R1CA after I did a soft reset and upgrade. Occationally got 3 sattelites but never locked.

This time I chose the 'Update and reset' option in SEUS to wipe everything for R1CC and it locks in about 5 seconds with 8 or 9 sattelites. May be worth a full reset and reinstall. Effort though.

Thanks for that Slashpepper, I tried a factory reset followed by re-installing the firmware through SEUS. It's now getting a GPS lock-on in less than 5 seconds using about 6-7 satellites, very impressive!

I must remember to use the 'start from fresh' approach to new firmwares in future, rather than the 'upgrade' option...

hey guys ..

i tried a hard reset and bingo .. locks on within 10 secs.. impressive ..

anyways can any1 tell me how to enable aGPS .. or does the phone does it automatically?

EDIT: I thought the latest software was R1CA and not R1CC. is this R1CC only for orange or unbranded one as well?

Sadly rumour doing rounds that Voda are dropping the Satio

Not sure what's in it but not listed on their website apparently and that pressaged the dropping of the X2

I hope not and I hope SE stick with Symbian I think putting all theri eggs in the Google basket is very risky. However Nokia and SE and Symbian Foundation have to learn that consumers and therefore networks and retailers are no longer willing to tolerate the level of problems that used to be allowed to slide by. There's a new paradigm.

100% agree! Symbian already has tons of features including the basics, all thats needed is a UI overhaul, otherwise its a fantastic OS with loads of potential once it becomes Open Source.
