Less than 48h.
Bonus: just read Sony is leaving Brazil. Only PlayStation will be sold. No audio, tv or camera anymore.

Check new teaser on instagram.
It is a paper sheet with draw of a phone.
Looks very thick and nothing round like 5ii.

Looks like a slider

I would bet more on Xperia Play type than something like Blackberry Priv.
If it is slider, I do not think they can apply IP rating.
No IP is not welcome in Japan.

Thought it would be good to see them shake things up a bit with a new form factor.

Maybe they show some concept or something but the only production phone would be 5 II
If there was any other production phone, such as X10 Plus, it would have been leaked already.
And I'm starting to question Xperia Pro's existence as well, it still didn't go through FCC and it's already October.

Exactly.
It would be enough if they say they are working on something same way they announced the development of Pro.
Maybe the Pro has already got FCC-ID, because more than 1 device got it, but only 1ii is being sold there.
I hope the tip sent to S.A.R about new concept that merges 1ii + rx100 is true.
I'd rather have 1" fixed FL than 16mm/70mm.

If they do present what they think is to be the ultimate cameraphone then it would be about time. We've been expecting one since the C905.

never gonna happen ... just not possible to merge an rx100 into a phone. the space required for the large sensor and quality lenses just aren't possible on a smartphone that's not gonna look like a 1 inch thick brick.
they are doing great innovating new sensors to improve what a smartphone can do. but we aren't gonna have a rx100 in a smartphone anytime in the next 10 years.

Panasonic CM1 has size of XZ1c. Just thicker.
- It has 28mm lens. If Sony uses something like 24mm, it is easier to make thinner elements. Sony today has many of the best lenses out there, knowledge there is enough. Same applies to Zeiss.
- Phone is wider and taller than camera. Get rid of the other two cameras, they save some space.
- sony knows xperia can regain some marketshare. Cameras cannot. Soon only APSC, FF and MF will last. Better kill rx100 and rx0 and let xperia take over. 1ii seems to be way more popular than 1, despite being $250/€250 more. It is their chance.
Even Lg that is also losing money for years is taking risk with Wing. They may bring screen that stretches soon.
Who would not like to buy something like this?

*** the teaser posted yesterday, in the end shows a draw too. Xperia besides an Alpha cam. Like the one they have on website with 1ii and A9.
*** what if the thickness means single camera periscope with true zoom that would work from 16 - 200mm? Like same 1/1.7" camera. Asus has done it before and Oppo is working on it too ....

Nah, I'd rather have sensors with 'small' sizes in their phones today, compared to super large single sensor for one phone. Sony should play more with computational photography, like google, etc.
It's because people want versatility.
Then, the camera bump size will be very bad. It's also risky for the phone's durability.

Sony does not like fake looking photo.
Photos from 1ii do remind of Alpha.
Exposure, colours etc ...
Google, Apple and Samsung give instagram photos.
With ability to only shoot zero motion.
Without HDR turned ON all the time, they would have tons of exposure issues.

Xperia 5 II goes on sale for $949
That’s even lower than what people expected, including myself! Lol

Yet, sony phones still has a lower dynamic range compared to the competition. If you want natural, it’s either google or sony actually.
