Woah! this thread is getting ugly now.I think its high time that SE came out and gave an OFFICIAL release date for the P990. If you can do it for a gaming console then why not for your best selling mobile.
c'mon SE, your image is taking quite a beating with your continued silence on the state of the P990.
I think its about time you started answering our questions!

Isn't Q2 their official release date? and until end of June passes I guess we can't really question that

@masseur, The very first post of this thread it says" The phone will start shipping during Q1 of 2006."
Now according to you if this is an ‘official release date’ and SE had to change it from Q1 to Q2.dont u think they owe us an explanation as to why they did this. Now if they don’t release it in june (which is very likely) and then say Q3.What shld we do then wait for Q3 to get over?
I said it earlier and ill say it again – I think its high time we got a statement from SE on the P990.
here, have a puff |

The first post was made when the P990 was first announced last October.
Subsequently made another press release in February this year for items related to the P990 in which they also stated "The P990 will be commercially available in Q2 2006."
At this point the only conclusion we can make, given that there have been no further press releases, is that it is due this month.
I don't feel that they MUST make any further comment than that, though it would be nice if they did

It would certainly help to quell the constant speculation regarding release dates and possible delays. I don't think it is *that* unreasonable to ask at this late stage of the game for SE to provide something a little more concrete than just "commercially available during Q2". At the very least if they aren't going to make Q2 (as things are increasingly looking) I think they should say so.
At least with some sort of firm date in mind it would help some of us make more informed purchasing decisions depending on how far away that date may be (ie whether to get an M600i until the P990i arrives for example). |

I think I will pass on the P990... The W950 looks soooo much better and offers everything the P990 does in terms of OS, and more in terms of the built in 4gb.

We should be holding the P990i right now as the February press release stated that it will be commercially available in June 2006.
Instead, we are still in the rumour mongering stage about the launch date.
Locally here in Singapore, we are getting rumour that it will be available here in July and before that, SE will do another dog and pony exhibition for the Communic Asia on 20-23 June 2006 held at Singapore Expo, Singapore. Get ready for more of the same photos.
If the P990i is already stable, why is there a need to do another dog and pony exhibition and not release it to the market. |

By the time this phone gets released, it would no longer be worth the hype. |

Ive been saving up for this for ages. Unlucky I just spent £200 of that last week so I wont be buying it anymore, and it doesnt bother me, it doesnt interest me anymore.

In the interest of providing some balance, I don't mind waiting for a moth for the P990 but I can see why people are get fustrated. But when its out and has been on the shop shelves for a while I think old SE fans will come back as they see what it can do and how it does what it can do.

And what would that be Coxy, that you spent £200 on ?
Im joining the same boat, im losing interest in the P990i rapidly. Im sure once its released i'll be all impressed by it again, but atm its the N93 and WM5 PDAs that are getting my £££s.
2006 could be the first year i dont buy a SE phone, how scarey is that !

Riiight, I had a few 8800's... my last one went off today, and i'm using a 6310i now. Huuuuuuuurrry up P990i
The P-series is the only SE that has ever interested me, rest are like toys...
Finally getting back to the P-series, been about 4 months since my last, sold the P910i thinking the P990i wasn't too far off (how wrong was I).
Anywayyyss.... I'll be sure to get this in the first week of release, wooooo new toys!

I am really curious to se if it will work with Fon or other wifi-share communities! FON is spreading rapidly now... And if FON and the P990 works with eachothers I'll soon be in heaven!
