Anyone had this: We could not complete your Itunes store request. The network connection timed out.
What does it mean

Annoyingly, once your phone updates it has to to be "reactivated", presumably to verify that you're still you and your phone is stil yours, or somesuch. Anyway, to do that iTunes has to check in with Apple's verification servers (or the iTunes store as it calls it), and guess who else is trying to connect to those servers right now? Yep, the other 40 million people updating to OS 3 today!
Anyway it worked for me eventually after I clicked back and forth in iTunes for a while and sat through a few more of thoses messages as above. All seems worth it so far, I'm copying and pasting like a champ and the landscape keyboard's nice too. Best surprise so far has been to find Googlemaps is back in miles again for the UK! That's worth the update alone!

Oh man! I wish I'd waited before updating to 3.0. I keep getting "an unknown error has occured". And this just appears at random times when using the phone.
Also, wi-fi doesn't seem to work when updating apps. It works fine on internet though
ANyone else getting this? |

@scouser_75, I don't think I've seen anyone have so much bad luck with iphones that you've had, I feel for you. Is this what getting a sim free one does for us though? makes me think twice
I uploaded 3.0 a week ago and its been smooth sailing all the way, and like boinng, I really love the landscape keyboards

overall I found it a bit snappier than before, cut and paste is useful, especially on Esato, and I've already mentioned the landscape keyboards... but probably the thing I have used most is the iphone search where you can search for just about any user data, anywhere, within the iphone and you get a clickable list of items so that you can go straight to the app that the data belongs to. this is accessed by pressing the home button when you're on the first page of icons, or simply scrolling to the page on the left from the first page of icons

any jailbreaks for the 3.0 yet? I have far too many jailbroken apps to sacrifies for the new firmware so I guess I need to wait for the jailbreak

I'm finding it a lot slower and troublesome.
Wi-fi signal is sh1te.
Wi-Finder doesnt work.
internet is now also slow.
and randomly get "an unknown error has occurred"!!!

I was curious about that too but my daughter is still running 1.4 jailbroken unlocked on the 16gb original iphone she inherited from me and she has customised it so much from the installer stuff that she won't let me anywhere near it to upgrade her despite me telling her, and showing her, all the new stuff!
