Er..... that was me re Nokia, I do have a mate who is pretty high up in Nokia Finland and he is well connected in the industry the word is WI Fi is a big big problem for  with the P990 and will cause a big delay in release, He showed me a proto Nokia flip phone recently with "working" Wi Fi I tried it! really nice build quality too please take note

Sure wish it was available right now as my P900 is dying. The battery warning indicator comes on, even though there's plenty of juice left. I bought a new battery for this a couple of months ago and now that's doing it too!
Even did a master reset on it on Sunday, still having problems.
On the other hand I'm getting really worried that the P990's going to be a bit of a turkey being so delayed and full of instability issues from what others are saying.
It makes me wonder if I should buy something cheap for 12 months until the P990 has stabilised or it's replacement is out.

well, you say thw WiFi is an issue and another poster at What Mobile (UK) forum says the problem is with he camera and card reader software. These two areas are not shared with the M600i. So perhaps the SE 'Eshop' release dates are really incorrect for the P990i. Like with the M600i, we just need one peak at a retail ready P990i and we know we will be about 2/3 weeks from general availability. Since we haev not seen one and we are into the first week in June then a June release does look unlikely.

I think they should've announced the phone when they're ready enough to release it in a few months.

everyone who has tested the phone actually had no problems with the wifi but with the camera and camcorder.. so i doubt that the reviewers are lying about that^^ |

From the very start of any reviews of the P990, WiFi and the camera have been the areas that people say the bugs are present in. How long can it possibly take to work out the problems in these two areas? |

Err I seem to remember a number of problems being reported with the Wi Fi and have no reason not to trust my source

Ok, the phone may finally be out in a month, but will the software developers have any apps for it that work. And then how long will it be before all the bugs are found.
SE have taken so long, that I have changed to a XDA with WM5.
I have lost faith in SE for the time being.
SE get your B****Y act together.

My thoughts entirely. I've had SE phones for the last 5 years: T68i, T610, P900, K750i. Now I'm getting tired of the wait.
O2 are sending me a brand spanking N80 this week!

Woah! this thread is getting ugly now.I think its high time that SE came out and gave an OFFICIAL release date for the P990. If you can do it for a gaming console then why not for your best selling mobile.
c'mon SE, your image is taking quite a beating with your continued silence on the state of the P990.

Isn't Q2 their official release date? and until end of June passes I guess we can't really question that
In my memory have only ever given one fixed date for product launch and that was the W800. many shops had it prior to that but would not release it until the specifed day (12th August 2005)
