Yeah, Tranced has made a good suggestion there. I was going to say, does the wireless adapter actually show up in device manager? Does it have a red x next to it?

the closest i have come is i now have a yellow exclamation mark on it in device manager.

i have tried the drivers on the acer no joy they both try and install and say there not even on the laptop, i have turned it off on the front andturned it back on thus bring new hardware found and scanned alarge choice of drivers and even used a naughty version od driver detective and still no joy just starting to get the better of me now

there is no way of turning it of in the bios its so limited its unreal

My Dell XPS 420 has decided to bite the dust and won't boot up, it goes onto the BIOS and emits constant short beeps, from that I've gathered this is a motherboard or psu problem, but I can't be sure which
I have also learned that Dell use BTX motherboards rather than standard ATX ones meaning I won't be able to get a new motherboard to replace it un less I go for dells completely overprced one which I don't want to really.
So what are my options now?
Taking the components out and putting them in a new PC?
Just sellingthem and buying a new PC?

Thanks for any the replies

Happens to me weekly,
Side off PC > HDD('s) out > Boot her up > Error "no boot device available!" > Turn off > HDD back in > Walla
Works for me anyways

@weirdwilli
The beeps usually can tell you the error.
Heres some beep codes from my motherboard. It might be the same or different for yours:
1 Short: successful boot
2 Short: BIOS setting error
1 long, 1 short: RAM or motherboard error
1 long, 2 short: Monitor or graphics card error
1 long, 3 short: Keyboard error
1 long, 9 short: BIOS ROM error
Continuous long: Graphics card not inserted
Continuous short: Power error

So yea, its most likeley a psu problem (those things break all the time....(maybe not as much as hard drives))
