The major consideration with Symbian phones is customizing the UI, Hobbs, i.e. setting up the folders and apps in the same menu layout which i always use. Then there's the process of finding the proper applications, hacking the OS, and most importantly, getting the theme just right! It was doing my head in trying to find the exact brushed metal theme i'd used on the 6680, 6630 and 6600, and after hours spent messing about with Unmakesis, Sisware, etc to extract the mbm files, convert them to jpg, edit them then reconvert and recompile into sis files, i FINALLY saw a post concerning a theme-maker who makes beautiful themes. Had a looksee and found the very thing i've been trying to create, albeit in black. I is now a hźppie boytjie
I'm not superstitious, merely mildly stitious.

« on: July 08, 2008, 09:05:34 pm »

Heres one for you Wangs.Remember PowerMp3 on S60.Well.....

Mobifactor is proud to offer a beta version of PowerMP3 for UIQv3.

Direct link to download the beta version:
http://www.mobifactor.ru/data[....]3_UIQv3/PowerMP3_UIQv3_1_2.sis

Give it a try and let me know how it is.I loved PowerMp3 on my Nokia 6680.When I had my P990i I scoured the internet for this app only to be highly disappointed cause it never existed for UIQ3.

@ Hobbster:

I'm not sure why it's going so much cheaper now. Perhaps all the 'B.R.O.D.' problems that have been discussed on forums here haven't helped, perhaps the fact that until recently there was just a £25-odd price difference between a K850i and the new C902 and Nokia 6220 Classic, and possibly adjusted the price to shift the remaining stock and make way for these 2 newer handsets.
When I asked the guy in the local CPW store earlier today about the price drop, he wasn't even aware that it had just been lowered, by the very company he works for...

Dunno, maybe I've read one-too-many K850i issues threads to bother contemplating this handset as a second phone; methinks that lovely LG is probably still better value for money..

@ Hobbster;
I've been so engrossed with work over the past few weeks, tying up loose ends before we close on Friday, that I'm way behind with the latest UIQ news n' stuff. Methinks this warrants a long visit tonight, at the UIQ Evangelist's site..

@ Kryptik:
Glad you're enjoying the N73, boet.
Had to laugh when I saw 'sisware' again (and the well-known dotsis site); a South African supply teacher that was recently at our school remarked "Sis!" when she saw something that one of the kids left a trail of vomit on the way to the toilet. The two Pom colleagues were bemused by why she had referred to the sick girl as 'sis!'
I then explained the SA colloquial meaning, and later explained to the newbie SA supply teacher that the Poms wouldn't know what 'sis!' means, or takkies, or koki's, or photostat, or howzit, or that 'just now' means 'right now' here etc etc.

EDIT: Hobbster, you're a star; thanks for the UIQ3- Power MP3 link.
Will defo check out the app.

Hmm, Sagem then? Alcatel?

Just got a MMS from one of your Russian connections, Hobbster.
Here's Olga, and she's saying that she wants to find ways to persuade Comrade Hobbski to not be so harsh on her fave Korean manufacturer, LOL:
