I will
The Holy Quran states in verse 84 surah 3:
Say: "We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)."

Because it might be the fact that Islam is officially the fastest growing religion in the world today, even with the current events around the world...Ironically its the U.S that has the fastest growing muslim population and converts to Islam.

I didn't write that comment Sean, but i will answer it for you.
Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and for some reason this is an issue for some people. They want Islam to be potrayed as a bad religion and an evil religion. What they do not realise is people seem to be most interested in Islam after being on the news so frequently.

@peterkay i love your posts! I have a little doubt in my mind. Does islam consider other religions mainly polytheist ones to be inferior or wrong? Atleast thats the message i get from islamic websites...maybe radical ones. I'm specifically talking about hinduism which is considered polytheist but it actually is not! And i would like to hear your views on idol worship which i'm told is considered a great sin by muslims. Would appreciate your inputs on this.

This is my view on Idol Worshipping:
I would not woship an idol because, firstly it cannot listen to me, it cannot give me peace, it cannot give me tranquility and it will never answer my prayers. If the idol falls from its place it will break/shatter - it cannot look after itself so how can it look after me?
We Muslims believe in the unseen God, he is the greatest, the all-knowing, the all-wise and often forgiving most merciful. I pray to him 5 times a day and feel so much tranquility and relief in my heart and i believe he is the one that has created me and will release my soul when i die and then re-assemble my bones on the day of reckoning.
This is what the Holy Quran says in chapter 59 verses 22/23/24:
22. Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- Who knows (all things) both secret and open; He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
23. Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace (and Perfection), the Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme: Glory to Allah. (High is He) above the partners they attribute to Him.
24. He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory: and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Hope this helps. Dont want to hurt your feelings on idol worshipping - but this is my view

@peterkay, i agree. Maybe you should read This to get a better understanding about idol worship. You may be suprised to hear that hinduism does not promote idol worship. There is a reason behind it. Hope you're not feeling that i'm trying to change your set of beliefs. A healthy discussion about two contrasting religions. _________________Congrats to all esat[ This Message was edited by: whizkidd on 2005-07

@Whizidd, interesting reading. Learnt something new there.
Anyway did you know the following:
The ‘Brahma Sutra’ of Hinduism, of the Vedanta - ‘Akkum Braham Dusta Nastim - Niya nastim Kincham’ . There is only one God, not a second one, not at all, not all, not in the least bit.
So if you read the Hindu Scriptures, you will understand the concept of God, in Hinduism the scriptures have always mentioned that their is one God.

@peterkay, all hindus contradictory to the popular belief believe in one god! Idol worship is not worshipping anybody "other" than the almighty. Its the way one perceives things!
