I believe the story on blowing up chargers and i will phone SE on monday, however untill then i will continue to use my charger because i have yet to read an actual case of a blowing up charger.

Im assuming, SE is making such a big deal out of this because... well they dont want to get sued. Im guessing that any instances of an SE charger blowing up has been very small.

If my charger does explode i will post it here!

In any case, this maybe a stupid question but... if the charger explodes, can this damage the actual phone?

Look ya shower of doss F**cks, believe it or not, this is a genuine recall of chargers, which is affecting both orange, cpw and vodafone in the uk, IF U ARE USING A DELTA CHARGER MADE IN THAILAND, PLEASE GET IT CHECKED OUT, all the afore mentioned companies are ordering new chargrers to replace the DELTA ones, get im changed just in case... The best thing to happen right now is for SE to make an official statement, telling consumers what to do next..

Cheers

If it was bollox, why are these not being picked up by the moderators

Just got an email from Orange that says that all mobile retail stores worldwide are to stop sales of the following Sony Ericsson phones.
T68i, T610, T310 & T300. This is because customers worldwide are experiencing their chargers blowing up while the phone is being charged. I'm not making this up. I work for Orange retail and have just recieved the email. The production of the phones have not stopped but the problem will need to be fixed. This does not effect the P800.

It is official. Weapons of mass blowing up announced by SE. Oops Maybe not blowing up, just weapons of mass break apart. Doomsday postponed. Not customers worldwide, just UK customers.

CST-13 Specifications

PRODUCT RECALL: CST-13 phone charger
Sony Ericsson has identified a fault in a small number of its UK 3-pin CST-13 phone chargers and, as a precautionary messure, has activated a process to have all potentially failing units returned.
The charger is manufactured in Thailand by Delta, an external supplier, and has the identification number BML162099/3R1A printed on the socket face, along with "made in Thailand by Delta". The charger has been included with the following Sony Ericsson Phone Models: T68i, T300, T310, T610 and the Bluetooth handsfree accessories HBH-30 and HBH-65. It has also been sold separately as an accessory. At this stage we believe that the problem is limited to chargers sold in the UK only.

There has been a limited number of incidents in the UK, where a pressure build-up in the charger has caused the top plastic part of the charger to brake off, with the danger of hitting someone. If the charger does break apart, the electronics of the charger may be exposed thereby creating a risk of giving a person touching these parts an electric shock. In such circumstance, there could also be a risk of fire, if the charger is in proximity of flammable material.

Consumers who possess this chargers should stop using it immediately, remove it from the socket and contact the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre. A free replacement charger will be dispatched, together with a pre-paid envelope for the user to return the charger to Sony Ericsson for inspection.

At Sony Ericsson, product quality and safety is of the highest priority and we would like to offer our sincere apologies to all customers for any inconvenience caused.

Standard Charger CST-13 is a basic charger that can be used with most Sony Ericsson mobile phones. There are models to suit all standard power outlets. The CST-13 has all the essential features – a transformer, power outlet connection, and a mobile phone system connector.

Attached picture of my CST-13 (made in China-salcomp-astec) SE chargers. The casings are not hermetically sealed, I managed to blow and suck air thru’ those casing gaps. Try it out on your Made in Thailand by Delta chargers or any other chargers. If it doesn’t, send in for replacement.

Unconfirmed CIA reports that Al’ Queda member or Saddam’s loyalist has infiltrated Delta factory in Thailand to seal up all casing gaps of SE chargers with superglue. Thinking that due to popularity of Sonyericsson, every household in UK will own SE phones and its chargers, thus blowing up UK. CIA went on to report that the same group is currently working on genetically modified Popcorn that one day it could also blow up the United States.

Just been on the phone to SE support who quoted me that they've officially found only 10 said faulty chargers in 350,000.
New chargers being delivered within 48hours of call.

I've already had one charger replaced, but it didn't exactly blow-up.
Until then, its a Russian roulette - do I feel lucky?
