from what i read from 1 user on the xda forum it seems it's just a problem with the SE servers lately? coz some where having trouble debranding their orange branded x10 and all of a sudden it worked again. so i guess i'll try again tmw morning |

Can someone on Rogers who has NOT debranded please get the "APN Backup & Restore" (free app) and post a backup of APNs that came with the x10.
I used some I found through searching after debranding my Rogers x10 but now everything is very slow. I'm pretty sure the x10 had several APNs I'm not used to seeing.
Also I'm one of the bunch who can't go back to the Rogers firmware due to SE's servers. *sigh* |

can't you just use the auto internet settings feature? it works for me on my unbranded rogers x10a here in the US on AT&T...
if not you can go to the sony ericsson website. I posted a link a few pages back to have your internet settings sent to your phone...

Nah, it only finds the crappy settings for non-smart phones.
I also tried your link and it doesn't say anything at all for the x10. Strangely, it only has the x10i listed and not the x10a. |

It gives me the settings for WAP browsing instead of Rogers Internet. Two very different things. Also there are multiple APNs for Rogers Internet. Some are slow and some are very fast.
Once the SE servers are back up, I can finally repair and get the correct settings back.

i think i know why we can't rebrand the phone by just copying the original rogers file and paste it back in the folder. We changed the firmware of the phone by downloading the firmware on the phone and changing the file name of the new firmware to match it. The new firmware that's on the phone i'm 100% sure doesn't have the same file name as the one we changed it to. So in order to get the phone to flash without having to dl. we have to some how figure out wat is the original file name of the firmware that is on the phone. and change the new firmware file name to match that instead of just copying the original firmware name of the rogers file.
example: the name of the file we changed it to FILE_277286594_1270622078000_1268290408000_277286592_16629674_INFILE_LONGTERM and that's probably the fw name of the rogers firmware. so it probably have no problem flashing the file on to the phone if you were still on the rogers firmware if you simply rename the new firmware files to that. but however once you flashed the phone's fw to something else. the fw file name is probably no longer that and it's something else. ie FILE_xxxxxxxx etc, so when it attempts to repair or update, pcc or seus will look for the file FILE_xxxxxxxx and it'll notice it's not there so it'll attempt to dl it.
that's what i think is preventing us from rebranding/changing the firmware of the phone. i've sent lolly a pm asking if he has the original file name for the uk files. Also hoping those that managed to somehow get the repair option in SEUS can you copy down the file names of the 2 files and post here before you rebrand it or flash to something else? |

Ok maybe I am retarded but how do you get the phone to get into the update mode?
I followed the steps shown in the software update window (turn off phone, remove battery, then turn back on while pressing back key etc..) but it won't go past the Prepare step???
What am I doing wrong???
Thanks...
*edit... Never mind. It took a few tries and it finally worked.
