The only SE phone who is good in full auto is Plank's C902...
Every phone have advantages and disadvantages.

Thanks for the link Norobiik ... is it just me, or does it look like the W995 tends to put a shade of blue/cold over all the photos, whereas all the others tended to have more of a Red/warm shade?

Some tips to get great photos with W995. It's not the best phone for all auto settings so you have a few simple settings to be mindful of
1) Wipe your cam lens before shooting to reduce hazy looking pictures. Fingerprints do this.
2) Adjust the exposure 1 or 2 steps down to get better colours, exposure and contrast, it makes a whale of difference.
3) Always use daylight white balance for outdoors and interiors with no artificial lighting
4) Always use fluorescent/incandecent white balance for evening and indoor shots with artificial lighting
5) For moving objects in lowlight situations, adjust ev to -1.7 to rid the pic of a lot of noise and at the same time increase shutter speed, the pics will be sharper but darkness can be adjusted later on with the onboard photo editor

I posted this a few pages back, and this is how I always get my pictures. As I have consistently maintained, auto settings shouldn't be used for bright daylight scenes as they won't appear warm. Of course review sites won't go to such extent and base their findings on auto settings. It is up to the users whether or not they want to make full use of their hardware's capabilities

Dude, it's like you purposely overexpose your pics, why would you do that. Excercise some EV control or point towards the source of light while focusing and they'll go away, it ain't rocket science.

OK, firstly let me apologize for my last post, I viewed your pictures with opera mini with medium setting for picture display, saw the purple fringing on the car roof and assumed all of them were purple fringing problems. I have made it explicitly clear time and again that BLUE fringing exists but I have no problem with it, I mean, look at my pictures, you won't notice them unless they're highlighted or blown to full size (like what you did). I'm sure many agree they're presentable photos and do not recognize them as having any sort of fringing problem. A problem is only a problem if it consumes your subject and it has never consumed any of my photos the way it has yours. Now you could keep making a big fuss about this and keep complaining without end on how bad your W995 is OR you could adopt some of the solutions I have tried to provide and make full use of your hard earned money. They are proven, try it. The choice is yours

i can manage to get rid of the fringing problem with post processing..but if people want to buy this phone who seriously considers fringing problem may not be misguided.. thats what i want to emphasize. also
fringing problem cannot be treated with any camera settings...bec its a lens problem..
in my pics i also dont see fringing until they are in thumb size.

For the last and final time, no one is misguiding anyone here as they can see my pictures with less significant fringing and yours with more significant ones. I have maintained what...10 times before that BLUE FRINGING EXISTS, I even made a note on my original post of the DSLR pic that the 'Nikon' wording contains BLUE FRINGING..sheeshh...

Thanks. It's a Nikon D40 Just a normal macro shot, you can see the blue fringing on the 'Nikon' wording. Surprised to see slight purple fringing on some of the other wordings, I usually manage to keep it under control by adjusting the exposure.

As for the purple fringing which is the REAL issue here...well...you can't find any in my photos can you as they are next to none. I've always maintained (again since you're too thick headed to get this) that it is supressable and I've proven it. Where is the misleading fact in this?

I've always been very honest with my comments so stop convincing others that I'm misleading them, clearly they can read my posts for themselves and pass their own judgement. Quit assuming I mislead just because I post my better pictures and show people what the phone is truly capable of. There are other crap pictures (yours no doubt, you keep insisting it) to help people decide and I've never stopped them from being posted.

And please, I've never ever hidden the fact that W995 has its problems, please read my posts before accusing me of hiding the truth. The best 8mp cam phones in the world have their problems too and I bet other consumers are b*tch!#g about them too, Innova8 with its crap colours indoor, N86 with its unjustified oversharpening in broad daylight and watercolour effect at night. So either get over it or please get off my back

On a lighter note , comparison pics between W995 and W902 two of the first Walkman-Cybershot hybrid. They are not conclusive though as they were taken during different days with different weather conditions and I used full auto for W902 and Daylight WB for W995

@mode come on man... i'm not telling u misguiding people..
but i'm emphasizing the problem to the people... thats it...
how come my mobile fring more where as urs less...??? its all about lighting conditions..
also n86 give water color effect yeah i know its common for nokia but they don't fring.
and i can't take only normal lighting photos.
EV control does not help in reducing the fringing upto my knowledge... if so then it will affect other things as well.
btw i'm not a noob in photography...
hmmm... lets leave this topic..
SE must work on it bec all people who use cellphone are not a photographers unlike u. so a company think on it and loyal to the customers...
fighting u and me does spoil our good relationship...
keep posting..

Yes, I know haha...it was just a chance occurance, I happened to be at the same place at the same time a few months after W902 and I had a new phone so naturally, I fired away! It was only after I came back and compared them that I realized such inconclusive comparison. Nevertheless, I have them and I'm quite proud that I managed to catch almost the exact positions as though I took them side by side so...

Here's more comparison pics by chance too, courtesy of one of our members here, thesun. We happened to be at the same place at the same time taking almost the same scenes, but didn't cross paths...kinda freaky really but here they are, W995 and C901. Wouldn't know what setting he took it with though. W995-Daylight
