JC man...

Capri? Ugly? noooo
And where else are you gonna get your tax free 400+ bhp from?
.. unless you own this and would like a 9l V8 with 2000+bhp from a Vauxhall Victor

And what use is 400+ BHP in a car that handles like a blancmange and has brakes the size of coasters. There is such a thing as too much power.
The car I pictured was a Jensen FF. It had 325BHP going through all 4 wheels. Bet it sounded better than your Crapi (go here to hear it).

Getting a little philosophical JC, but what constitutes a car?
I could just go ahead and buy a Capri, then stick the oily bits off a Gallardo in there. Hell why don't I do the interior as well?
And don't say buy a Gallardo.. you'd need to pay Mr Tax Man's gaylord road tax. (no offence to homosexuals. )

Well anyway i don't really care, I would happily own one and not give a toss what people think....that is not chavvy they are both modded tastefully and subtly...I really don't know how you can call the second one chavvy as it has genune ford bodykit which is just off different spec models....except the bonnet and splitter

Umm, anybody who drives anything older than the current or next Fiesta, or possibly even the one before the current model (I can't be arsed to look up Marks ) tends to look chavvy, or at least any young person driving one. Their about as tastefully done as placing a dog poo onto a fake gold plate in a 'Chavs Announomous' meeting.

BUT, thats just my opinion! Personally I can't stand chavs or anything even a bit chav like, so I'm naturally going to say stuff like that

So what do you drive daedalus......

Thought you'd never ask

I saved, and I saved, and I made what I thought was the right choice (after having spent 2 years driving a 1997 'jade green' Vauxhall Astra 1.4i Merit lol ), and bought this............

Mark 4 Golf GTi - 2.0L and pretty damm nippy lol

It's not as quick as the 1.8L Turbo, as they get far more BHP, but whats funny is, mine's only 115BHP, and my friend has a 2.5L 190BHP Mondeo ST24 Mark 2, and he struggles to overtake me, because mines much lighter and nippier

Either way, I love it, and whats more, I love the fact I can whip the sh*t out of chavs in their little Corsa's and Nova's and Fiesta's etc that are pimped out to look like some kind of cheap-arsed supercar, only to find out behind all those big exhausts they've got some pissing piddly little 1.1L engine. Especially seeing as mine is as discreet looking as GTi's come, they don't expect me to go flying past them

Anyway, love it to bits, only problem is it tops out at 36MPG Plus tax is £180 a year. Insurance isn't so bad though, only £410 this year, for me, fully comp and everything. This is why it pays to take the plunge and pay for your insurance YOURSELF boys and girls, it pays off when you turn 21

Looks nice actually.....at least its a 3 door and i'm liking the plate

I reckon you should just lower it on some of those big VW/audi tt alloys with lots of spokes......and take the GTI badge off for sleeper style

About the overtaking fiesta comment, i think you would meet your match their as they both have had 130bhp 2.0l silvertop engines put in and they weigh literally nothing...

I like them anyway but i do have a berghaus coat

and about insurance.....it may have paid for most people.....but theres no way my parents and me are gonna find 3 grand as opposed to 1600 on their policy

Thanks

And true about the 3k, in that case yeah it is best to be on your parents for now lol, but get off it as soon as you can, or else you'll find it to be a crutch and you won't be able to get cheap insurance for years. My cousins only just gone on his after 3 years now he's turned 20.

Didn't realise they were that powerful, but I'd still rather have my luxurys like AC and one touch electric windows etc

I do like the idea of the bigger alloys, love the look of them, and I was thinking of doing the opposite of debaging it, by putting a GTi badge on the front. It's like a badge of honour for me, like being part of a special club. Bit like Cosworth was in it's day.

The plate was a 21st Birthday present (the grandkids are all going to get one apparently, I'm the first ), it's my initials "JB" followed by what I do the most....text!

I thought it was cos you worked at o2 lol.....still good

Ye I think that would also be good.....probably what i'd do....but thought you were after subtlety

And those fiesta's also have one touch electric windows and i think A/C(am trying to remember the interior of my brothers....which i will add, the only mod was an induction kit) as they are the sport model and not poverty spec

Yeah i think i'll go on a company that lets me build no claims if i can find a cheapish one...otherwise i'll just go on my parents policy till i'm 21 and make sure i let them use the car

Word of advice that saved my brother a bit, when we were both learning to drive in the Astra, the insurance was in my name (as I was the registered keeper of the car) and he was a named driver.

Now, with Direct Line, who we've been with ever since I've been in a car, they let you earn no claims discount (for them only) whilst being a named driver, so it saved him a fortune when he got his own car a couple of years later. Worth a look

And yeah, bigger wheels and a little GTi badge on the front is as subtle as the 1.8 Turbo 'real' GTi's, plus they have a rear spoiler, something I do want, mainly to see if it keeps some of the dirt off the rear window

yeah I was gonna look into Direct line....although i have a feeling they will be expensive......i ay also check out co-operative insurance as apparently they let you build no claims aswell

I been collecting a list of insurance co.s to check out which look good

hmmm.....need to try and sell my BMX now to get a bit of cash saved.....its only been used about 3 times and it pretty much unmarked....although i doubt i'll get anywhere near the £180 i paid for it if i put it on ebay
