At the time getting funds to make movies was hard & it became very popular to offer actors a percentage of the box office takings and a small wage for the filming instead of a huge one off payment at the end of filming (standard system) this made films much cheaper to make, but if an actor chose the small fee + % of takings & the film went on to become enormously popular it made them millions. |

I didn`t want people to think i have lots of star wars info cos i don`t, so saying i wasn`t a "fan" didn`t mean i disliked the film, it just meant it was more about actors/money than a star wars fact, (i should have said i am not a star wars FOLLOWER). |

Boxing day is so called because the churches used to give money that had been collected in boxes to the poor the day after christmas. Boxing day can also never fall on a sunday as it is already a holy day. If xmas day is a saturday then boxing day is on the monday.

The japanese word \"arigato\" that means \"thank you\" is derived from the portuguese word \"obrigado\" which means the same thing. The portuguese were the first european people to get to japan by sea in the XVI century.

Someone mentioned on about page 3 another non linear keyboard format other than QWERTY.
The other format is DVORAK.
However, unlike Betamax which it was compared to, DVORAK is still doing the rounds and is, I believe, a lot faster than QWERTY. Unfortunatly, like the battle between Windows and any other operating system, most people will always stick with what they know and never move.
Fact: Carrots are not actually good for your eyes. This rumour was started during the war with Germany. It has been proven not to make the slightest bit of difference to your eyes.
Another fact: Picking your nose will not make your head cave in.

Also, masturbation does not make you go blind. Unless, of course, you're an exceedingly good (or, to put it another way, bad) shot.

hey sanjeevjaya
in one of ur posts on the first page, it states that humans only use 3% of their brains, but that is not true.
we use all of the lobes in our brains, however, only about 3% is under active control such as thought and speech. the rest is involuntary such as regulating body functions (eg. body temperature).
just wanted to clear that up.
u started a nice thread tho, so keep it up! |
