I changed the CDA, it works perfectly! My phone is so much faster now after the upgrade that I'm wondering if there was something wrong with it before. I'm very happy! |

Sorry to be persistent but the risk is quite different. If you brick your phone while using SEUS without further modification it will be fixed under warranty. If you brick it while or as a follow up because of using XS++ or any other deep firmware modification tool - it won't be fixed under warranty.
did you ever read the Disclaimer that appears when SEUS is starting???? go ahead...you will see SE can f... you as well as if you were using XS++
@Zulan, way to go!!! Glad you did it

I believe there is no difference.
My oppinion is that with a bricked phone, not even technical support can make it boot -> they don't even try!
They upload the firmware by brute force, and never check what firmware was on the phone in the first place.
Even then, you can say it was SEUS that tried to upload the wrong firmware.

@ares: Of course I read the disclaimer, did you? SE claims not to be liable for any damages, losses not only limited to the SE device (as long as the exclusion is allowed in the country of use). They do not (and cannot by European law) exclude warranty. But if you brick a 3 year old SE device without warranty they won't pay for it. Without the disclaimer, they would have to. If you blow your PC while doing it - they won't pay for it. But you may still sue them.
@LAU: Indeed this is the scenario which most likely will take place. But if you changed your CDA the wrong way you will get back a working phone from support after flashing brute force - but the CDA will still be messed and your phone will be bricked again after the next use of SEUS. |

@ares,LAU....
I think the point here is that neither you nor anyone else can guarantee 100% that flashing a phone is risk free.
Even those with many more year's experience in the flashing field are wise to temper their advice with some caution....
Flasing phones may now be 'easy' but surely not risk free, and blithely assuring newcomers that it is perfectly safe is not fair.
Unless, of course, you're fully able and willing to buy those with a bricked device a new one

living is not free...you can be hit by a lightning, etc...
my point rests the same...i strongly recomend every single P1 (or p990 user) to take advantage of XS++ and change the CDA to WG1 or WG2
i never said its risk free, however the risk is LOW and is well worth to try
notice how Zulan made the right choice and is now happy, like alot other people on the last few day, while me and dominique were arguing the benefits of such thing...the benefits are clear!!!
there are instructions in this topic of how to use xs++, and the app itself is very frendly, or at least it should be for someone who uses such an advanced device has the P1...
i rest my case...if people prefer to have crippled phones, not my problem

Is there a developer's website for XS++ with readme files and manuals?
Thanks |

@ares
I agree with you as well.
P1 users definitely should use XS++ to change their CDA to WG1 if they want to have a proper P1i.
Waiting SE to publish new fw for your CDA is quite a waste of time while WG1 users enjoy the bug free(sometimes with new features) phones.

But you did say it's risk free.... My point is not to spilt hairs, just a suggestion that advice on FW modding is tempered with a touch of caution. I'm sure xs++ is very safe and most if not all posters so far have had success. And of course it's great that people get more choice with their FW options.

But I quoted you directly...go back and read what you wrote
And now I think we've wasted enough space on this thread with slightly OT hair-splitting. |

you are 100% right, my bad...anyway, i expressed myself incorrectly...of course nothing is risk free...easy is really the correct word and what i really wanted to point
changing CDA with XS++ is not so complicated as other types of flashing you can do with it that tool (like unbranding), that would be far more more difficult/risky for a newbie
truth is, every single person that did it after being told so have done it, without problems or aditional questions...that tells something

Sure it does
And trying this option certainly beats the pain of waiting for area-specific FW updates

mate i have succesfully changed my CDA thru XS++, its quite simple and very quick
>dwnload XS++ 2.2
>tick smartphone connect and press connect, then do the usual to connect your fone (remove batt, sim, mem card, reinsert battery, hold 'C' and connect)
>once connected go to the GDFS menu on the bottom, and press backup GDFS, once completed dissconnect, remove and reinsert battery, and restart XS++
>connect again and once connected it should show a drop down menu with CDA versions, select P1 WG-1 and press run script, the process should only take a couple of mintues
>lastly, connect into SEUS, it should say that you have a new update available for your fone, start the update, once finished unplug fone and enjoy!

I've changed mine yesterday to WG1 using the file replacing & renaming method and it worked perfectly.
The reason why I've chosen this method is that it's being done via SEUS + w/o modifying gdfs manually.
