Hi!

Thanks to masseur and Dicky Snapples, for "gently" pointing me in the right direction!

Loving my TyTn II and have, since 2.00pm Saturday,

1. synched all my contacts and appointments with Outlook 2007,
2. put on Tom Tom, and got it working with Western Europe, UK and Ireland Maps,
3. did a back up.
4, sorted out Vodafone email,
5. got mp3's and music videos playing...
6. through my S-E Bluetooth headset ....

Yes, I am well pleased !!

Still some more to do tomorrow !!

Question!! How do you use the inbuilt GPS with Google Maps?

I think maybe I can use TT to activate the GPS but how do I close TT and keep the gps active?

What does google maps show? Maybe a blue dot or marker for where you are? Can I then drive off and I am tracked?

I will keep on experimenting !!

Hi!

On the Application Disc there are

3gnetopt - 26 kb
Installer_Kaiser_BackupTool_5.1 etetc
Installer_Kaiser_ttn_6 etc etc
SpriteBackupEnglishpersonSetup

I think Installer_Kaiser_BackupTool_5.1 and SpriteBackupEnglishpersonSetup are the same. Am I correct?

Is the backup software very good? I have installed it, but wonder if anyone has experience of better software!

Hi!

Mentioned earlier in this thread, I think Google Maps is excellent ! Played with these this afternoon, and could see myself tracked along the roads whilst walking.

Also earlier in the thread, Resco File Explorer 2007, but I have not downloaded it yet to try!

I am still exploring my TyTn II !

microsoft live search is pretty good too and this and google maps both offer satelite view which, although it consumes alot of data when you are tracking by GPS, can show you exactly what is around you and not just line drawing maps... fantastic (thank goodness I'm on unlimited web'n'walk!)

as time goes by though, and I've used windows mobile since the original ipaq 3650, I find I need to install less and less as more and more is included by default!

after almost 3 weeks now, I still can't put my TyTN II down...

masseur!

what 'less and less applications' did you install!

I have given up on the Japanese Input, tried 3 that had good reports but they only showed 'boxes' instead of Japanese, and 2 of them disabled all of the buttons !

@Masseur, although it is my first Windows Mobile in a while, I agree that I always install way too many apps that I do not end up using...

Ive got a mixture of most of the apps tweaks listed in those two threads.

DAMN Masseur!

You must be an OLD dog. I thought I was the only one that remembers the Compaq iPaq 3650 - the sole device that catapulted Microsoft beyond Palm OS! Sure I prefered the Casio E500 then because SD card was native and you didn't have to use the slide "Paq" but still was WAY too exepensive for me.

Thanks for update on the Softbank, was wondering if a carbon fiber looking sheet can be applied to the Dopod 838 Pro, TYTN or other?

The TyTN II is just too expensive and I don't like the shiny keys. Tmobiles keys seem to flat for the MDA Vario IV, while the HTC brand looks effective, I just wish not shiny maybe black. I'm still bothered they took away the FLASH just to accommodate the GPS.

I think I'm going to go for the SE K850i first. Then the Dopod C730 unless the TytN drops significantly in price.

AT&T just went official and introduced the AT&T HTC Tilt smartphone.

Its the same like TyTN II but missing the frond camera plus its AT&T branded.
