Another good idea would be to write directly to the Operator's Customer Support, or any other Customer Complaint department, so they can see, as well as us, that SE products are being left "unattended", so they would think twice on asking for more products to SE... or at least, let them know that a bad-propaganda against p990 and P1 is in order... this way Operators will re-think on going after those products... unless SE fix this.

I wonder how much a full page ad against SE would cost in a major newspaper. I for one would be happy to contribute to a fund to arrange one. If we ask nicely nothing will happen (as has been proved already). Maybe SE need a little pain to be reminded of their duty to consumers and to be honest the press would love it.
On a side note I'm working in Taiwan at the moment and the major mobile company is doing a big promo on the P990i, I'll forward the details of this problem to my friends in the commercial press here and see if they pick up on it. |

I had the same thought this morning. But which newspaper? Which country? Which continent?!!! |

Good point I would guess the US or UK as that would maximise publicity. I don't think the ad would do much good but the spin off might be effective. The paper would have to be major enough to sting them. |

Just follow Firefox roadmap for their similar operation a couple of years ago.
I think, they choosed US Times, than Die Welt (german).

Couldn't we also ask the consumerist for help > consumerist.com ?
I've already emailed them but if more people do they are more likely to comment. |

Well... here in Mexico I have sent an email towards 3 of the largest newspapers in the country... so lets wait if they print this request out.
...and other idea that comes into my mind... what about Google and Yahoo search engines?, could not we buy an add? so every time a "P990 or P1" search is in progress, one of the MAIN pages would be some kind of "warning" for those interested in buying one?

or maybe yet push a letter to any BBB :
BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU .. all places here in the US has that Independent Organization which participates in consumer protection.
so that they would have an idea that consumers were sold units/cellphones that did not meet standards or as what promised in the official white paper.
just a thought ,
fight on P990ers!!!!!

I am so glad I am not alone... I am so so dissappointed in SE. I will definitely not buy or reccommend SE products again...
Lets not let a big company bully us into giving our hard earned money to these people!
People beware.. DO NOT BUY SE! Don't be fooled by their advertisements.

.....with the launch of iphone tomorrow, thats a bad publicity to start for Sony F#@*rson, i myself have been having second thoughts of switching to the iphone...been frustrated by the bugs of this crap firmware....
....whoever will advertise in the US, count me in for the donation, im willing to share a small amount for my voice to be heard.
...Sony Ericsson should know that these p990i phones where bought with "HARD EARNED MONEY!!!" and you should do a "HARD JOB" in making our phone acceptable to what you are advertising!
....SE should better make a GOOD STABLE FIRMWARE or we consumers will ask for a REFUND.

Certainly NOT the U.S. of A. since people here don't even know or care about any p990 or 3G that will never work here!
So get an established EUROPEAN newspaper! The P990 is a Europen Model and surely not made for the US market.
So any ad here is like putting a bucket of water into the dessert sand!

I am an M600i owner, and I am extremely dissatisfied with the "service" provided by Sony Ericsson. My phone crashes on a regular basis and manages to run low on memory on a regular basis. It is also incapable of sending music to a Sony bluetooth headset on a regular basis.
I have a number of cases open with the local support services and have had nothing useful at all. Now I see that SE has decided that the operating system is finished, I would like to tell SE that I am finished with them. I have been a loyal user of their products since the R380, but as they seem to be incapable of supporting their products adequately, and seem happy to abandon their customers in a cavalier fashion, then I will stop wasting my money on their stuff.
I have posted the story to Pocket Lint last night, and it was published this morning.

Keep spreading the word.
