I've tried 1200 characters (using copy & paste and typing a few characters afterwards) and didn't get any error message... [addsig]

What about memory leaks? That, to me, was the biggest issue with the phone. Is this any better?

That depends who you ask.

I still have a leak from what seems to be Messaging ( the only app running in the background on my phone ) and some other users have reported the same on the my-symbian thread.

Then again, there are a couple of lucky souls who report no leak.

no problem..

10.000 characters (long enough now ? ), still no errors...

(closed flip afterwards and successfully saved to drafts...)

Uff... So it seems that there's no email bug with long emails! Nobody else's confirming this? I hope, I also work a lot with mailing.

Well, I have noticed something else which may be related. I was trying to copy the contents of a rather large note into a QuickWord document. If I select the whole text and "copy" the notes application seems to copy the selection to the clipboard. Then when I paste into QuickWord there is again a considerable delay during which the data should be copied. This also ends successfully (!) but there is no data in QuickOffice. I can copy/paste smaller chunks so it's not the process. The whole data should be a couple of hundred KBs but apparently the buffer size of the clipboard is much smaller.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

I'm sorry makbil, what is clipboard?
And please confirm - does that mean that you cannot copy a big text file from Notes to Quickoffice? You have to do it in smaller parts? THAT WOULD be a real s...!

For all that say the new fw is SOOO much faster at startup. I did a side by side test 2 phones 1 with R5 and 1 with R6 and the result is 3 seconds!

First, the new fw is 6 seconds faster to the pin enter... then after the pin in entered, the old fw R5 is 3 seconds faster to have the phone ready! Difference is 3 seconds. Not very mucho

At least the Alarm Low Volume Fault is fixed now.

And already some spread the rumour that this will be the LAST FW. Not to be too muc of a non believer.... I always doubted that SE would ever upgrade us to the next Symbian/UIQ version. All just gossip. Just let's hope that's true with the 'last fw' gossip too.

WE CERTAINLY WANT ANOTHER FW coming sometime.... best would be TOMORROW

I had the exact same experience with you. Never had this before on earlier firmware versions.

I just found to other improvements over the previous versions: Jpeg thumbnails in Contacts look now crisp.

I also had an issue with duplicated contacts during sync, if the contacts had a picture attached. With R6 together with the latest version of the PC Suite this issue seems to be finally gone.

Memory leak is on the same level as with previous fws. Multitasking also as in the previous fw. So if that was somebody's expectation then he/she will be disappointed. For other things I fully agree with makbil. Opera is absolutely amazing now, so fast using wifi, and totally stable. Wifi also much improved. I can freely left my PC in the corner when it comes to browsing and downloading (as I practically already did). Camera was always very good for me but now with utofocus improved its even better. Phone is generally faster and as in previous fw fully stable.
So if one can accept that multitasking is reduced then P990 is worth having smartphone and the new fw very good improvement.
