I did follow them last time I did a firmware upgrade but this time I didn't do anything at all except backup contacts onto memory card and then do the firmware upgrade. No formats or master resets or anything  Seems everythig is fine so far!!

Well I think this is the best firmware yet. Fast, responsive, all my apps etc seem to work so I'm happy. I get 15MB RAM free at startup which isnt the most I've ever had but it'll do. |

Just updated. Works a bit faster,a bit more memory, Internet browser more stable,and i think the audio static is a little bit less annoying (but it still is annoying).
All in all worth the wait.
And don't be scared by the first time you turn on the phone after updating. The boot takes more time then it took to build the pyramids. But the next one is as "fast" (  ) as before. |

This new firmware has subtle differences to the old one, but it's all been said.
I am slightly disappointed that Opera still devoid of shortcuts. There just isn't any good reason for it; M600 owners have it! I was looking forward to not having to mess around with Opera Mini anymore.
Oh well, maybe it'll be the next firmware. |

Has anyone been able to find a feature that finally allows the phone to put into silent mode while in FO with a keyboard shortcut press only??
So far I have't had luck....

The restore worked pretty good for the Unified Inbox and multimedia and settings (FM preset stations were restored), but although slightly better than previous versions 3rd party application restore is still pretty shaky. Some applications including Worldmate came back decently whereas SMP never showed up - both were installed on the internal memory. Also a weird thing happened, there is an icon for World Fact Book (java app) but when I click on it Opera mini is launched! I will reinstall these applications.
Overall the restore was much less painful than before. Oh, and still no restarts or kern-execs  My ultimate test will be to use WLAN+RSS+Opera tonight.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace  So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

If you press any key in fo mode, it goes to that letter in contacts, so I am guessing there is no shortcut. You just have to go through the little triangle at the bottom left.

Sweet update. Just updated my phone not a month ago, and now it's a new one.
The menus are much faster.
I also discovered that when entering PIN the numbers are turned to * almost immidietly, not like the old fw where I saw my PIN standing when I startet the phone.
The start-up bar is brilliant. The start-up time is improved. Much appresiated.
Minor changes to the icons in the menu, better pixeling.
I havent had a chance to test the rest of the phone yet, but so far I'm very pleased. |

I have upgraded to R5A17 and I restored the back up I created just before updating. Untill now everything works fine but this was the first time ever that the call log was not re restored. It is not very important but it seems strange to me. Of course there was no restoration of voice commands (like always). The pictures I have in the contacts are not blured this time, I replaced them before the back up and they came out fine with the restoration. Also there is a secured bank site I hade problems accessing with all previous firmwares which works now for the first time with P990i ( it also worked with P910i) |

Everyone goes on about shortcuts. At i think we shoulg bug SE about this problem of not having them. The most unnoying thing for me is that there is no shortcut in the messaging. When you finish writing sms message why not have a shortcut to click SEND button? Ir is there a way that i'm not aware of?

ATTENTION:
I just found that this fw does not tell the SEUS system its there... what I mean is that every time I connect to SEUS, the system is telling me I can get the newest update. I felt for it 3 times... no more!
So I will not check SEUS for a while. Just for you to know that you don't fall for this too...
And by the way, its NOT changing anyting, no version change and no change in the date it defaults to.
In any case, every time I made it reflash with that NEW version (it is actually downloading all the time a new version and not using the one on the pc already!) the performance improved.
I did not write earlier, even though I did the first flash in the morning, because I did not actually see and feel any improvement besides the obvious (bar, transition on/off, etc). But now, it is indeed faster and performing better.
However, still much is missing, including the option to select gp3 or mp4 when video recording.
More if and when I find it. By the way, swiss manager pro works for me, just did not enable the icon, but I never do. I only use it to automatically close programs when closing the flip.

Hello all,
Plz i need a quick reply for my questions:
- What is the restored settings include?i mean do they include call log, fm radio preset stations..etc?or these settings include something else?as actually when i do an update i restore only my contacts.
- I also don't use the icon of SMP as i use it only for reclaiming is it work fine?
- do handy clock and agile are working fine?
-finally,do the psiloc crystal arabic 1.31 works fine?
