This not exactly the killer phone everyone (me specually) expected,M-R is right ,its more of an evolution than revolution.I think intro'ing M2 is a little premature. Well, imaging part im pretty satisfied, more features are there larger matrix,I cant say the quality until i see a pic by the phone made from retail (i dont quite belive in photos made in early scoop reviews).
New tiny tweaks are welcome,I want to know how much java has improved (already MR said u can run two java apps simulateneously.

I think the phone is brilliant personally, ok so the video isnt as good as the Nokai n70 but who cares. The screen is good size also for putting films on to watch at work. The only thing thats missing from the camera is the optical zoon, but hey if your that pickey about the camera then go buy a CAMERA. I also like the new version of Bluetooth which should alloow some neat triks im sure. I was hoping that a bigger memory card would be provided as the 3.2mp pics will eat up the space very quickly. Not sure if im going to go for the 3g version or the 2.5g edge one. The other UK networks are starting to better their newtworks so i can get away from three finally when this one coms out.

I totally agree with mwarner

Development takes time, you cant everyone expect quantum leaps and technically revolutionary new phones in the same range every single year, its just not possible - and it would seriously decrease lifespan and value of the phones you buy, and thus sales, because fewer buyers are prepared to take the loss.

Think about you buying a revolutionary phone 3 months after its been released, and 3-6 months later its practically worthless, because then the next revolutionary model is announced.

And its not possible to develop revolutions within a year over the entire lineup of phones, it takes time, testing, etc. etc.

These may not be revolutionary, but they are still nice upgrades in many aspects.

I also see nothing wrong in wanting to spread functionallity a litle over different models to have a wider lineup to offer, peoples demands for multifunctionality for no money are silly, multifunctionality is nice, but it allways comes with a compromise, you cant make a multifunctional device that is state of the art in every aspect, beating every single dedicated device out there which people tend to compare the single funtions with. Sometimes it seems like to satisfy peoples demands, Walkman features has to be better than the best Ipod, camera has to be better than a dedicated camera that cost 3 times as much as the phone, it has to have a fullfledged videorecordingsytem comparable almost to regular videocams, it has to offer gamingcapabilities like a dedicated psp, videoplayback and soundquality like your home cinema system, webfunctionality and officefuntionality like a laptop, screenquality like your highq. computermonitor etc. etc. etc. etc., and you want everything in one single device that you can afford to buy, and its catastrophic if theres another phone in the lineup offering some puny litle thing which is not offered in this phone.

Remember the yelling just because the W800 had a slightly different mediaplayer software than its sibling the K750, and how "everybody desperately needed that mediaplayer" causing god knows how many reflashed K750's with W800 firmware (and god knows how many problem posts regarding firmware flashing / upgrading)

And on top of that you want every single aspect of the phone to undergo revolutionary improvements within the next 6 months of developmenttime, so its ready when you are eligable for an upgrade in a year on your cheap contracts.

Come on peops, get real, get reasonable

If this was how the world looked there would only be one phone from each manufacturer, and most likely very few would be able to afford it, or afford to change every year.

As well sorrie didn't mention it, that the K800i will also have stereo speakers, so stereo sound like in the W550i, so you'd get the stereo widening effect, which would be kool...

As for the music lovers waiting for a music ver. of the K800i sorrie to disappoint as it won't be coming out this yr but next, as when SE would upgrade to 4 megapixels then the music ones might get a 3.2 mpx as they are now concentrating on imagry in the k series and music in the W series.

So hence the new walkman fones that will be coming out later this yr will all have a 2 mpx camera but a new UIQ interface, new design, as well support for PSP, an added feat. As well in all the new walkman series fones they won't have a lense protector either, as in W series less emphasis on the imagry part as e.g: is the W810i first one in the many without lense cover and more emphasis on music and games.

The K series more emphasis on the imagry part as it is dubbed the imaging phone, and less on video, music and games but since most of the time the latest K series fone is usually a flagship fone the media player and games are kept upbeat but the video not.

The newer one which would come out would be Betty, no code as yet afixed with it but it will also support a 2 mpx camera but the rest will all be new.

Later this yr in the 3rd quater will come Sony's video fone, basically for those whom want to take videos alot with there fones... so that will be aight as well ...

Well this will be a good yr for SE no doubt, but they should release there fone's quickly and not seldomnly slowly...

Its just occured to me that theres a golden reason as to why the k800 contains these flauses. Looking at most peoples reaction, it seems as if they're going to the second option... the w810.

Had the k800 not had these faults most would agree the k8 was perfect. Who would buy the w810?
People with a contracts which just so happend to end when the phones released?
Those willing to spend £230.00 but not £300.00 - 450.00? (estimation of k800)

I for one have been lowered in the sonyericsson plan, as i want to sell my k750 for a w810, however such a thing would not have even crossed my mind had i not looked at the latest and greatest new model...k800.

The w810 uses the pro duo card for a reason... like many have said, what shall we do with out 1, 2gb cards in which we've spent so much on?

Simple solution is the w810. I infact KNOW its not worth upgrading, if it costs me my k750i and say atleast £100.00 on top. I however feel reluctant.

The k750i joystick has just about had it... my main reason to upgrade. The w810's seems so attractive and simple due to being able to pause the song, change song, fastforward music, when i understand the k750 can do this minus fastforward but in a not so attractive form.. (music button, volume button)

Secondly the w810 is soo attractive and i know sonyericsson can produce such phones year in year out... however dont WISH too. I.E K800

The memory card problem now is, the w810 aswell as p990 are the few remained with pro duo cards. I've recenly ordered a 1gb card, i wish to use this for over a year. I know my next phone will be walkman, therefor w810 has suddenly become a must.

The media player on the k750i does the job but quite simply again doesnt look as attractive as those on the walkman series. w810 seems a must again.

The only concern is the lens cover but alll the above reasons over vow the lens cover.

All in all... each and every phone released lately has grabbed attention and awareness, as those which a k700i looking for an upgrade would find the k800 perfect. It may not look as nice as say the w810, but for those who have a k750i with a 1,2gb pro duo card would most likely say no. I find myself lookin at this newly awaited model (k800) and 2 days later, finding my actual next phone will be the w810 in which i had no intrest in 2 weeks ago.

SonyEricsson are by far one of the greatest marketers this planet has seen.

from mobilereview;

"Such low resolution is implemented only because SE plans launching another brand for additional set of products targeted for making great photos combined with video recording in HD-quality."

so when we will see 2.0 mpix "handycam" branded phone with 640*480 "mpeg movie-vx fine" recording

ay ay ay

Barring the video quality, come on guys, this phone is better than any of its rivals.... e.g 6233

as for the design, WAIT untill you hold one in your hand, then judge it! it makes a lot of difference! i have that experience as i work in a phone retailer in the UK, and sometimes you this wow, this is a lot better than i thought when you eventually get to play with the new phone!

Personally though, ill definately be getting the P990i...

reasons... i have been a longtime smartphone user (P800, P900, P910) and recently i sold my P910, and opted for a K750 with a 2GB card...

the K750 is a FANTASTIC phone, but i just miss the smartphone functionality of the Pseries! i feel sooo handycapped!

plus, when i get the P990 (for FREE) i can just put my 2GB Pro Due in that... no need to buy a stupid M2

I ACTUALLY CANT THINK OF MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE USED P-SERIES, HAVING GONE BACK TO NORMAL HANDSETS!

so, forme its P-series and symbian for ever... hehe

thumbs up to the K790/800 though!!!
