my battery life has got better on the Bold after about 4-5 days and turning off 3G, performance has appeared fine and downloads dont seem to be suffering from lack of 3G connection so far.
i'm not running the latest OS but will look at upgrading if i start having some major problems...at the moment my main reason for not upgrading is my PC wouldnt connect to the BB, not sure if it's Vista related or what but i havent got around to resolving that one so i'm soldiering on without connecting up that way.
been spending more time using my MacBook lately anyhow so if they did an alternative application for MAC OS that would suit me fine.
Gmail:
i recently took my work email over to Google to run on there servers much like having a Gmail account but using my own domain name and just installed this sync tool for BlackBerry that lets you sync up all your calendar and contact lists over the air with your Gmail account(or in my case my own domain email)...great for backup and it's all free.
if you already have a gmail(googlemail) account point your BlackBerry browser to: m.google.com/sync
took a short while to sync initially(sent 509 contacts from my phone to an empty contacts list online) and i had to log out and back in on the web login to see all my contacts appear.
read about it online: http://www.google.com/mobile/blackberry/sync.html
verdict: great tool! |

Hi all,
Well the latest Beta firmware out in the wild is now V4.6.0.201 and it changes the available Fonts from the previous 12 to 10 but there still a good range of choices and all the sizes are still there.
It gives me 54mb Ram on fresh reboot and has once again speeded up the Browser and Thumbnail refresh. I have been running it for a little over 24hrs now and so far it's all good and everything is working as it should.

Hi ofiach,
Congrats on yet another new device hope this one works out for you nice set up and I'm getting close to doing the same. Well for me nearly all i need is already on the Bold all i have added is Google Maps and Adorno! Alarm oh and the Voda SatNav program and that it. But there really is tons of stuff to choose from just search Handago for BB Bold software and you'll be amazed at just how much their is to choose from.
Oh and join CrackBerry Forum for all the guides and how to do things guides. Also i would suggest updating to one of the newest Beta firmwares as they are much better then the stock Voda one. It will also give you the opportunity to activate your much needed Japanese support to.

Pretty simple to get Japanese working on the bold fire up the desktop manager and just add the language simple as abc.
Make sure you download the east asia package
https://www.blackberry.com/Do[....]ionid=eXrHbTvLBG-L1tHOHFDzaw**
File name: 9000jEastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel331_PL4.0.0.172_A4.6.0.190_CSL.exe
Install it, then go to Go to C:Program FilesCommon FilesResearch In MotionAppLoader and delete Vendor.xml
Plug the bold and update it and you will get options to edit what u want to add etc and Japanese should be in that list.

thanks themarques,
I am setting up now...

Where do I look for the Japanese?
BlackBerry Desktop Manager -> Application Loader -> Add/Remove Applications ?
I did run the Asian Package and chose Japanese !
edit - installed Simplified Chinese afterwards and forgot that that too will have a vendor.xml
updating my Bold now in progress !
----
I will edit here later to say how I got on!

I have a question to Blackberry owners/users.
Is it possible for a Blackberry to access the internet through your computer internet connection.
It's not possible to easily connect Symbian 60 phone to the net through a computer.
It's easy for a WM6 phone to access net (using one currently).
OFF TOPIC, same question for Apple iPhone, connect to internet through home PC?
This is so that you don't use any data plans on the mobile.
