Hi Guys.
I have 7 and vista in two differnet partitions on the same HDD.
How would I install the 7 RC over teh 7 beta without touching my vista partition?
Just put the disc in select where to install and bobs your uncle?

yea, it shoves the beta in a folder called windows.old on c drive (or whatever drive you install it on) which you can delete afterwards. Just make sure you install it on the right partiton! (it will tell you the size so you can tell which is which)

Say I want to clean install a new OS, what I used to do was just re-install it over Vista that I'm using at the moment, but that kept all my random crap (sorry, no other word to describe it with) in a WindowsOLD folder on my C drive.
So yeah, is it safe to just format the harddrive from Vista if that would work and then install it from there? |

yep, just use a linux live cd to format and then use the windows intaller to write a new windows. Alterantivley you can just shift-delete the windows.old folder after inatall

@sotam First, a check is made to determine if the customization functionality is enabled or not. More precisely, a DWORD value named OEMBackground in the HKLM\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Authentication\\LogonUI\\Background key is checked. Its data, of Boolean type, defines whether or not this behavior is turned on, i.e. 1 for enabled, 0 for disabled. This value may not exist by default, depending on your system.
