On a sidenote, I love how it's making the Z1 look like a giant phablet

Wow, if this is real, this means Sony is cramming an even bigger sensor in the Z2?
So could we hope for hardware stabilisation for stills?
And maybe some xenon like improved flash?
Nokia 808 may find his master in 6 months!

So... I guess we know where this is headed, don't we? I'll wager my pre-ordered PS4 that we'll see a Vita phone and/or a Vita tablet within the next year. Sony's kicking much arse right now. GO SONY!!!!!!
Sounds like wishful thinking. The vitaOS is still not mature enough, the browser is still archaic compared to other mobile solutions, and there is no "app", "mp3/music", "ebook/comics" digital store integrated with the rest of SEN. It's nowhere close to being a challenger to iOS, android, or even W8. If it's released within a year, it'll fail miserably IMO.
I do wish for it as well though, cheap, entry level dedicated vita machine for $150/vitaTV for $100, smartphone for $200 on contract/$400 off contract with spruced up specs for smoother OS functions and $300 Vita tablet. Sony, however, is not making the moves to make this happen. Vita tv and new vita model does not mean they are moving towards that. |

I got some info and want to share them with you. There won't be further explanation.
The sensor on Z1 is actually a downgraded version of what was supposed to get into it. First the software department fell behind schedule and then it was low manufacturing yields. The sensor was 1/1.5" and the pixel arrangement was as in the picture. The big pixel provides hints for the software to find out what would outcome of other pixels would be if they were bigger.
The sensor had extremely wonderful results in prototypes even better than RX100 but the yield was near 60.
The other downgrade is the battery. Battery was supposed to have 16 ends on different sides. In conventional methods power enters the board on only one point and then distributed to all components. By using their new method in internal Sony tests The battery lasted 7 percent more than normal batteries. The battery was supposed to be supplied by Panasonic but they decided to change their battery division's strategy more focused on cars so the cost of batteries went up around 10 percent.
We might see the sensor in next flagships but the battery is canceled for now because they think with the extra cost of making this battery they can use bigger battery which still costs less. Sony is currently negotiating with Samsung and Toshiba for the sensor. Toshiba ad Samsung want Sony to provide know-how, Samsung fund and Toshiba the manufacturing capabilities.
