@ Mohil, how about a mini-review when it's done

What site do you guys use to test GPRS? Preferable looking for a WAP site locally, not international.
Thanx

@ bradboy

Nope... I work for an agency to a network - I'd of course not be disclosing my exact position but suffice to say I get to talk a lot of crap about cellphones to millions of South Africans... monthly. Brix... I'm trying to tune the boys to fit you out. Stay tuned bro

Ok, have to publicly thank the Monkey Man for organising the V800...if there's one phone that would make me cross the line over to the darkside it would have to be the 6680... Ah...think I'll save up some pennies for it...maybe a good Christmas present for myself.

Okay boys... here are some more did you geweet:

Sub-Saharan Africa
Hitherto, the region’s sales have been heavily focused on South Africa, but demand in Nigeria and Kenya is developing. Nokia believes that the market will grow by 40% in volume terms after a 47% expansion in FY-04E, but sees market value growth at just 26% after 31% as pricing pressure remains strong particularly in the growing entry level segment. However, despite Nokia having an over 55% market share in the subregion, with a market volume of just 14m units expected in FY-05 (just 2% of the world total), the region remains a prospect for growth rather than a major driver. (Source - Nokia Nov. 8th 2004)

Ever wonder what those cellphone brand tech terminology means?:

NEW - Different color from previous design.
ALL NEW - Parts are not interchangeable with previous design.
FOOLPROOF OPERATION - No provision for adjustments.
ADVANCED DESIGN - The network doesn't understand it.
REDESIGNED - Previous flaws fixed - we hope.
YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT - We finally got one to work.
MAINTENANCE FREE - Impossible to fix.
MEETS ALL STANDARDS - Ours, not yours.
SOLID-STATE - Heavy as hell.
CUTTING-EDGE - incompatible with everything else.
INNOVATIVE - still serves no purpose.
WORLD FIRST - standby for 101 software patches.

@bradboy: Thing is SE is not releasing a EDGE/3G phone anytime soon...and the 6680 is a smartphone...talking of smartphones, my colleague had a trojan virus sent to her the other day through an MMS which in turn sent out SMS's to various people in her phone book with links to porn sites...BTW she's using a 6600...that's one thing about the Series 60 platform that has me in doubt.

@ Brix

Tell here to hose it off with some Doom or Target and then to switch it back on. If it still keeps sending out links to porn sites - ask her to add me to her phone book as well

Seriously - f-secure offers a free anti-virus for all Series 60 cellphone users. Pity there wasn't a need to develop one for Sony Ericsson - I'd have loved to have seen how it works... ha ha

@WirelessMonkey...Fatima is totally clueless about the inner workings of her phone, like most South Africans she got the phone as an upgrade and never bothered researching it's capabilities. Check the story tommorrow in the Cape Times about viruses, affecting Series 60 phones.

Here's a panoramic picture of the office...just before 9pm...I guess I'm bored

I have given this alot of thought, and the nokia 6680 seems to be my new phone. I need a symbian 3G and it does not look like sony will launch one soon.

Last night I was castigated for even mentioning my desire for the 6680. But it's a good phone feature-wise, perhaps the only drawback is the 1,3mp camera.
